WILDCATFAN said:Winning on the road is tough for anybody, Weber won by 3 at Sacramento last night, and EWU is a much better team than Sac, road wins dont come easy. And when your the top team in the conf, other teams bring thier A-game to play you. But Montana and Weber dont have a whole lot of experience. Weber has 2 seniors and Montana has 1, young teams are bound to slip up once and a while.
I mean the arena isnt everything, Look at the University of Utah. They have a 15,000 seat arena yet for the last 3-4 years really havent been good.
I think the coach is everything, look at football, Weber State since getting McBride has actually been a team to reckon with, McBride has been able to bring in the recruits that Weber would never get before, if a coach is able to bring in the recruits (the good ones) to come play for your school, and buy into your system, your going to be good, Rahe has done this at Weber, and Tinkle is doing this at Montana.
Utah may have a 15,000 seat area, but so do the schools they compete against in conference. That's the big difference between that and the Big Sky, where Weber and Montana are the only two schools that have real arenas. The rest are basically high school arenas. NAU plays in the Walk-up Dome in front of 500-600 fans! So, Montana and Weber SHOULD dominate recruiting, right? As you pointed out, however, Montana has not hosted the conference tournament in 11 seasons. How can this happen??? Just sayin'!
