Headlines like this make it more likely that a team such as JMU will not be allowed into CFP in the future. The amount of $ that was lost because it was JMU and not Notre Dame will make the $ that rules fbs change things so that this doesn't happen again imo.

While it only takes 3-5 really good players in basketball to make a valid Cinderella team, it takes way too many in football for this to happen. I still like being in a position where I can dream about a natty. Moving up the way things are structured now makes this dream disappear.

If you are a fan that wants more competitive regular season games then you will want to move up.

I still want more stuff that says National Champion and I believe that is possible in the foreseeable future even with the disappointment we witnessed yesterday. 2026 Toilet Bowl winner just doesn't do it for me.

The funding disparity between UM and the neighbors makes it hard to see movement in the foreseeable future. We might get a win every now and again, but this is about to be a pretty lopsided “rivalry”

not true. every Griz coaches contract needs to say beat the cats or risk termination. And follow through. The excuses for poor coaching here is unbelievable. Grow a set people.

I think he just means the lopsided institutional money leads to more support creeping into the program in all kinds of ways.

Skookum is () right. And I agree that there needs to be a financial incentive to win. Including a penalty for losing.

What level of talent at the coaching level would sign that FCS contract? With the current situation at UM the best you can hope for is retirement, Vigen getting hired elsewhere & his replacement underperforming, or some exceptional drop down portal wins. Not exactly a recipe for a stable, natty caliber program. Look at NDSU. Look at SDSU. Look at MSU. Where did MSU's ad come from? What was the plan? MSU tore it down and rebuilt it from the ground up. You have to be willing to do that to move forward IMHO.
