Reader

I know hes still a student at least. I saw him yesterday in the AM on campus. Hopefully it isn't too long for him to regain his eligibility.

Didn't see him on the bench at the beginning of the game against EWU. Wonder if he didn't make the trip.

Does your double-wide home have 6 or 8 wheels?

I'm a little concerned that you are asking so many details about my double wide... 6 or 8 wheels... You aren't planning on trying to fit that up there too are you? Sorry, a double-wide whether it has 6 or 8 wheels is NOT a suppository..

Oh and..bump... Hoping someone has some info on Reader. Kind of concerning not seeing him on the bench at least for the EWU game after winter session ended.

There isn't room for your head and your double-wide too. Guess you'll have to draw straws.

I had no idea my request for info on Reader would degenerate into yet another Growler1 imbecility thread. :? OR..............maybe someone will post something that has something to do with the topic.

GW, even though I don't have the information, to get this thread back on track. Here is to hoping Reader did his part to get his grades back up, and will be playing against MSU. I cannot think of a better game for him to return. :)

No new info, but a couple of questions. Reader is still practicing, right? And do you think this is a mandated NCAA ineligibility, or is Tinkle being proactive and "going the extra mile" to keep his program on the right side of the regulations?

Today's Missoulian said he was being withheld for academic reasons but did not elaborate. Sounds like there is still hope for a return.

It's striking how nobody (including the press) is saying anything specific about this. Maybe it's out of respect for the player's privacy, which I admire. But can anyone refer back to a similar suspension by Tinkle, or does anyone have some insight on the conditions of Reader's return?

And does anyone know if he's is still practicing?

Tinkle has suspended a few players to get their grades to the team goals. The last one, I recall was the the JC SF from a few years back. Why can't I remember his name? He was held out for about 2 months, but contributed down the stretch.

You make this sound like it was Tinkle's choice to suspend him. If he doesn't have the grades, he simply cannot be eligible to play. If he is not eleigible he cannot practice. My question for Billy is: "you were injured last year, couldn't practice for a while and couldn't play in the games, so what the hell were you doing with your time when you should have been appying yourself in school?"

I find this a rather disturbing thread. You're talking about a young man, a student. Project yourself back to your college days. You simply cannot assume anything. It's my bet that this kid would like nothing more than to be on the court.

We all have our areas of strength & weakness. Math was my crucible, but any class that called for an in-class 90-minute essay final I could ace without working up a sweat. Short story: could have simply been one or two classes that set up the road blocks.

Then there are the profs from hell. Or learning disabilities. Or outside distractions no one can predict.

In other words, lots of variables.

Let this work itself out. I have no doubt that coach T is doing what he is doing with the best interests of this young man at hear. Because he always has...

Until Tinkle publicly clarifies Reader's situation, there will be speculation and threads like this. Billy is an adult on a full ride scholarship to play Division 1 basketball. Fair or not, he signed up for it.

Hopefully Reader can figure everything out academically. Classes will only get harder...

Are you talking about Kamar Davis?

Davis was under Coach K.

mtgrizrule - Were you thinking about Elgin-Taylor maybe? He was a PG though. He sat out for academic reasons I think.

I was not referring to Kamar, but come to think of it. If I recall right, that did happen with Kamar, and it was for like a month. The guy I am thinking of was one of our SF/SG, and battled Dlouhy for PT. Very good defensive player, athletic, When I remember his name, I will post it.

As for Reader, he is a young kid (18 or 19), and from what I hear, a good person. Just having some minor setbacks with school. It happens, for some, school is not as easy for others. So let's not be too hard on the kid. I am sure Wayne know what is best for Reader, and this will be put behind him, I hope sooner than later. :thumb:

I was not thinking of CET either, but he did as well.
