Nguygen (sp) will NOT take us to the promised land! Sure, he's a gamer but his instincts don't point him up field and he just gets swallowed up and thrown to the dirt in the middle. How 'bout we experiment with ANY other running back in two weeks? Please. Huh?
JN is a good situational role back to have in your offense. To expect him to be the feature back in an offense has no basis of sense. He wants to run east to west, but does not have the speed to make it work. And it leaves us without option when we need to go north to south. It makes a DC's job easy; overplay the pass and even on the rare occasion when JN gets through the DL, you're in position to contain him because of his lack of top end. I've said all along we would miss Canada more than any other senior. And Takai.

Stockpiling WRs as Stitt has done is not without consequences at other critical positions like RB, OL and DL. Priorities.

What you say makes a lot of sense. I guess I misunderstood the role that RB would play in Stitt's offense when he first described it. Last week, there were times when I thought the running game looked disturbingly familiar. I really like JN. I think he's a great player and, like you say, a "gamer." He's producing yards. However, it appears to me that Stitt, like Delaney before him, is trying to use him in situations that make little sense. Like I said in another thread, I'm still wondering whether a LB is our best bet for a critical run. Is our cupboard that bare at RB?

It's been mentioned in other threads, but why not bring in Chalich or Simis to play a little. It appears to me that a lot of the running game is based on the read play. Gus has kept it twice now (I think) but Chalich or Simis would be a better threat to get additional yardage and at least make the defense think the QB running is an option. This would be very beneficial in short yardage situations where we haven't exactly over achieved. Let's face it, we really don't have a power package to ram it down a defenses throat. Additionally, I am not impressed with the amount of drops we've had. I wish it were a tracked statistic.

If Favors can not get some PT, then he must not be very good, because Nguyen is not very good. Have you ever seen him break a tackle. He would be a better dance instructor than a RB.

You must be the dumbest person on here. What game are you watching? He broke a tackle on his 41 yard run against Cal Poly that put the griz on the 1 yard line. The first run play against North Dakota State he broke a face mask penalty and still got the first down. Get the hell out of here.

The plan is to redshirt Jeremy Calhoun. He is suiting up, but will only see the field if injuries make it necessary.

JN is a classic scatback, but without the top end. In space, he creates missed tackles with his unique agility, but will eventually be brought down from behind. Inside, he gets tossed around like a bisquit and doesn't have the strength to get a yard when we need it, compounded by his desire to run east to west when north to south is what is needed. So take off your maroon colored glasses; our poor running game is hurting us. It scares no one.

Couldn't agree more. With the limited number of scholarships we have, we can't afford to have so many WRs chewing up bench space. You don't need 10 receivers. You need about 5-6 good ones, and couple more serviceable ones. What is the benefit of having so many "great receivers" sitting on the pines while we are very thin on both lines? Football games are won in the trenches.

I hope not to dissapoint any one or make any mad but I will put it as succinctly as I can............................
WE HAVE NO RUNNING GAME!! :argue: phew it always feels better to tell the truth.

Zone....true. Although OL has improved, still must continue to show progress.

Are we watching the same O-line? Teams that run the ball well have the ability to move the defenders out of the way long enough for the backs to run through the creases and lanes created. One or two exceptions to this aside, the backs seem to be dancing rather than making a cut and moving north/south as soon as possible. The inability to run consistently makes everything more difficult for the offense because defenses will ignore the run and focus on stopping the pass, like CPSLO did. They got penetration with three guys, cleaned up with their LB's and DB's. Figured out yet why the Calhoun kid isn't playing?

bigdog....I agree with you. I do think the OL has improved, but still nothing to write home about.

The Griz signed five OL in the 2015 class. They also tried getting two dropdowns who decided not to come. How many do you want them to sign per class???? Geez. As for RB, and those who want Counts to start and get all the carries, you apparently don't realize that he's still HURT. He can't fill that role right now. Logwood is also hurt. Favors, IDK why he doesn't play. Maybe Growler is right, maybe he isn't good enough.

Hav....I heard they tried to sign a couple of drop downs. As for the five they signed, where are they?

You could tell by watching him play last weekend that he is still hurt, limping off the field..

All the freshman OL are bring red-shirted. Spanky, I'm sure you're aware there aren't many true frosh starting on the Oline. ANYWHERE...

Hav....true, but if we have a couple that are outstanding, why not? Now, Weyer out for the season. Ouch!!
