Rasson Young

Well-known member
I am told, by someone close to the Raason Young recruiting that barring a absolutely disastrous visit this Friday and Saturday (May 22 & 23) Rasson will be committing/signing with the Griz. Young is sold on the Griz program, and like the direction they are going.

Raason Young is a very athletic 6-5 guard forward from Hagerstown JC in Maryland.

So if this is for this season do we know who would be leaving? How did we get on to the kid asuming a juco tourney its just not very often we recruit maryland? Also is it possibly through a Freddie Owens connection since he is the closest thing to an east coast guy on staff (i think). Who else is/was recruiting him?

Sorry lot of questions there.

I will answer what I can.

Young will enrol in classes this summer and play next year.
I have no firm info on who maybe leaving but i have heard 5 or so names. Obviously, there are a lot of rumors floating around most of which is bunk. I have been caught with egg on my face too much the past few months so I am going to wait and see.

I had the same question, but I do not have any firm info. I have heard the coaches were on him since before Owens came on board. My guess is that the coaches saw him at one of the many JC tourney's and / or all-star games and went from there. I do believe he is a late qualifier, which means the coaches were waiting on his final grades before having him in on a visit.

I do not think so, but I can not say.

I don't know, but I have to guess he was recruited by quite a few east coast team

Thanks mslacat wasnt trying to put you on the spot. Much apreciated.

Sounds like an exciting player that could add another dimension to the team. But to me it depends who is leaving as to what his true value is, not sure i would trade Diggs, Stockton, or Taylor for him, Banny for him would not be a bad trade though. Stockton, Diggs have a lot more long term potential, i think Taylor was under utilized almost all year. Banny just looked lost pretty much all year and apeared to have very little ball skill especially at 6' 3" maybe 6'4". He played hard all the time though. Those are the four guys i have seen as rumours to leave though i have no idea.

Could be a very interesting couple of weeks for the Griz.

Some added info:

All Maryland JC first team Guard (17 teams)
6'5 or 6'6" Guard
3 point shooter (91 3's made in 30 games)
Ave 18.1 per game
His JC team scored 138 on Nov 8th
Team scored over 100 15 times in 2008-09
