...thought we might get some help from our own hyperbolic "bomb squad" today little guessing that a real bomb squad in san diego would ruin my home party, forcing us to vamoose to a local bar when cbs went to alabama-marquette instead...but it must be true: "bad starts make good ends"...best line in the bar from a neutral party: "THAT CENTER IS A FUKCING STUD!! A STUD!!"...no not fazekas, andrew "inside" strait...with a 10-point lead at about the 13-minute mark of the second half, hasquet missed a wide-open three after making one moments before..had he buried it think this game would have been a rout...so fazekas wasn't kidding when he said they hadn't looked at any film on us!...last sunday i casually watched b.c. playing duke while waiting for the selection show, little realizing that within a week they'd be our opponent...but our program has faced a tougher challenge, against u.c.l.a. in 1975, when they'd won several national championships in a row, and wooden was the decided favorite in his last year...we might have a secret weapon against them--fatigue...lotta travel, tough two o.t. game, unusually high altitude...one advantage of krysko's offense is, you spend a lot of energy defending...with the great recruits coming in, and martin, ellis and swift returning in the backcourt, this program is really ascending fast...still, i'll miss the senior leadership of criswell and matthews...they're special.
