radio said coach K to Pepperdine

I don't think he should go, but why is everybody saying that he can't do anything good or great at Pepperdine? They had a guy get drafted by the Pistons last year, the 2005-2006 WCC freshman of the year, and a 4-star SF on the way.

Swilly,

One of the reasons why people may have a problem with the 5 million emoticons is the fact that not everyone has a beefy computer that will be able to handle that type of post well... My computer is what most would consider to be a pretty top of the line, and in firefox it took for freaking ever to load most (I'm assuming it was most, since I stopped it after a couple minutes) of thoe damn things.

Quick fix was to quickly block all images from egriz.com for a now so I could read the rest of the posts without that crap slowing things down.... I'm really lucky I didn't read this post at work..or I'd probably still be there waiting for it to load :/

I'll second that. :spam2:

Just a note... the radio station was 950 here in Helena, and it appears the announcer misspoke...duh!!!

He just won't be able to live in a house priced right in the middle of all the houses sold in Malibu.

I found a 3,000 s/f house for sale in Malibu for $239,000 or $219,000. Several others from $500,000 to $700,000. A guy with a salary in $300,000 would be able to afford any of these.

Wow! Guess I was wrong! You should offer to be Coach's real estate agent! The only house in Malibu in the MLS is a 1,500sf POS for $975,000. In fact, I want you to be my real estate agent! Do you know that a 1br condo in CHICAGO costs $219,000? To think all this time I could have been living like a king in Malibu! :moon:

Having said that, Larry K is the greatest Basketball coach to coach at the U of M. I hope he does something at Pepperdine

:crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby:

I love you Larry!!!!

I really like what LK is/has done at UM...
having said that i think he needs to stay longer to be considered the best.

its pretty clear that heathcoat isn't in some people's vocabulary.

If it on coaching potential then Krysko is the best.
However, Heathcoat is the best BBall coach UM has ever had, outside of Selvig

HAHA. Just out of curiosity, i looked at www.calforniamoves.com to search for listings in Malibu. A maximum listing price of $1M yielded 38 results. A lot of 1500 sq ft ranchers. But, here is the interesting part: About half of the listings were double wides in a TRAILER PARK on a bluff over looking the pacific!!!!!!!!

With that said, SoCal is a huge area; and Larry certainly doesn't have to live in Malibu to work there. Anywhere in the northern or western San Fernando (Sherman Oaks, Oxnard, etc.) would be places with a short commute and way cheaper housing.

And hey Swilly, do you really think it's worth eulogizing a 30 something thug who shot someone in the head over a game of POOL, who was in turn shot by that man's friend? Probably time to find someone new to pay your respects to. There's lots of stuff out there competing for the opportunity to rot your brain, I know you can do better than D-12.[/quote]

Chi,

dont overestimate him, if he logs on by himself I am amazed

The Proof thing is definitely sending the wrong message. He should be a lesson of why violence and ill-nature is wrong. The remembrance of him shouldn't be in a good way. He has proven why that attitude could be thought of as a terminal disease.

He was his own reaper in this case. What's extremely unfortunate is that he not only ended his life, but somebody else's at the same time. It's unfortunate what happened, but there's a lesson to be learned - not a rapper to be memorialized.

Even Kon Artis (another member of D12) said that its an unnecessary way to go. First Bugz and now Proof (two of the founding members of D12 with Eminem) are shot and killed. Both because they were carrying. If they would have left the guns at home, they both would be alive today.

He said that it's crazy - and he's right. It's one thing to rap about a lifestyle, but you leave that crap in the studio. What could have possibly been so important to gun down another person? Especially when you are successful and have millions of dollars. It's stupid and it's ridiculous. And the worst thing of all is that the MTV generation is feeding the trend.

Must I remind you that Proof had just essentially murdered somebody before he was killed himself? I'm sorry, but if I had a family member gunned down because of that - I'd have a hard time being sad. I think the proper feeling is disappointment and anger.

My mother, who is old enough to be my grandmother, says LK won't go anywhere this year for the following reasons:

1. Pepperdine cannot and will not offer him a ton of money; he knows he can probably get more in the next year or two somewhere else; and he has enough money saved (so that he doesn't need a few hundred thousand dollars more per year at this time).

2. He knows he can likely get a better job in the next year or two, and he's still very young.

3. The UM program is doing great right now, and prospects are even better. Things are getting fun now, and they are likely to get even better. The team should be even better next year. Attendance will be much better, and probably skyrocket , next year.

4. He likes his kids and his coaches, as well as his team's prospects, and would like to see what they can do together next year.

5. He and his family, including his wife, are liking Missoula and Montana.

6. Interviewing at Pepperdine, and getting his name further out in the press now, will mean that he is likely to be on almost every "long" list for new coaches in the next couple of years.

7. Pepperdine is an okay program, but it has less tradition and not much more potential (and perhaps no more potential) than Montana. Pepperdine could take huge work and many years to turn into a good program, and maybe it would be almost impossible to get it to a very good program.

8. Pepperdine probably isn't going to the ncaa tourney for the forseeable future. UM has much better chances.

9. He can get as much or more national media attention from UM now than he could get from Pepperdine next year.

10. UM believes it will probably be able offer a multi-year contract, perhaps 3 years, after the May regents' meeting. UM is offering more incentive money. The roundball club is raising more money for coaches, including assistant coaches, as we speak.

11. His kids are young enough so it doesn't matter if they move this year, next year or the following year.

12. His brother lives in Kalispell.

13. He just experienced one of his best athletic highs ever, with the win over Nevada. Everybody in the Griz family likes him right now.

Great post GrizFan10. Your mother is VERY WISE!

I like your mom. But I suppose someone could come up with a shadow list, coming to exactly the opposite conclusions. Have you ever been to Pepperdine, and looked over the cliffs at Malibu? Proof will, as always, be in the pudding.
