Note: MsMaroon, I hope you are not the lady who sits below me with her headphones and does play-by-play, repeating every fricking thing that Mick says.

My time with Mick and Gurns is private and sotto voce. Besides the guys above me are all old and deaf; I know that isn't you! ;)

Whew, what a relief - that lady wouldn't know what sotto voce meant! :)

Actually, I listen to Mick and Gurz as well and I find that it adds to the enjoyment of the game. They have an occassional insite that adds to the game. Plus they know the players better than me so I know who is in certain positions. However, they occassionally miss a player as well and sometimes don't see a substitute come in, especially at running back.

Thanks grizfan47. :thumb: My guess is . . . Hammer & '68griz believe only silly people [women] listen to the radio during the live game.

No, Ms Maroon -- if you will re-read what I wrote, I said, "the fellow who sits in front of us...." In my experience, that almost always refers to someone of the male gender.

Truthfully, if someone around me gave a play by play - I would be really annoyed. Luckily we are surrounded by great people who actually enjoy the game. I am frequently asked "What did Mick say?" but I speak only when spoken to. Promise.

You are so right - that is exactly what you said. Your experience mirrors mine. My apologies.

It's even worse than that, MsMaroon. She does play-by-play and color commentary. Except that, unlike Al Michaels or Chris Collinsworth, she: (a) doesn't know anything about football, and (b) is extremely negative. A deadly combination!

Wow. Has anybody asked her to . . .politely of course . . . shut up? Bribed her with a couple of Vikings? Offered her taffy to glue her teeth together. Popcorn? Sleeping pill?

That's all I got. ;)

The husband of a friend of mine is the most obnoxious guy ever to watch a game with, especially on TV. Constant yammering, criticism and negativity. He probably knows more about football than your lady of the radio, but that doesn't help. I refuse to be in the same room with him when there is a game on.

Let's see. It could be a couple of things. First, this was the first conference game where Root was involved. Could it have something to do with that. Or maybe they are sending the signal up to a bird and then back to all of the stations in Montana. That could take a few ticks. This from a retired pbp guy long before satellites.

Hey, I know, let's get them seats together! Far away from ours. I hear wedding bells.
