It's more difficult to transfer in the spring? That's an interesting take that some how it becomes more difficult to transfer when it's exactly the same process. Have you ever tried getting out of a yearlong apartment lease in December that you signed in June? There will be players that signed with a team in December that will be cut after spring ball. So, they are not leaving now when there are more open positions available, and will instead leave in the spring when it is much harder to transfer? How does that make any sense?
I get that you have two accounts that you are switching between to make it seem like more people agree with you, but you're trying too hard, man.
Haven't we been hearing that since Bobby 1.0, though? Yes, it has a boot camp vibe. Yes, the staff is a bit more "authoritarian" than some of the "player first" coaches or whatever terminology people want to use. Yes, it is regimented at Montana. Yes, the coaches are a bit inflexible. They also have a long history of winning, and it seems like most kids look back after they graduate and appreciate some of what was instilled in them. No young people like to be put through the ringer, or at least very few. But when the end result is winning and a great season, the complaints seem to go away.I have heard players are growing tired of Bobbys boot camp.
Yes, there are less spots available to transfer to in the spring, as I said. It isn't hard in Missoula to get someone to take over your lease. The housing situation here means there are a ton of kids that would be happy to jump onto a nice lease. Also, a large portion of the football team lives together in houses that they just bring the next player into. It solves a lot of that problem. There are more players in the portal this December than ever before, so obviously kids are not being held back from entering the winter portal by apartment leases. It's more difficult to transfer in the spring? I agree it seems like we currently do a good job of instilling mental toughness, but physically I think we are a big step behind the upper echelon of the FCS. Strength and conditioning needs a long look in the mirrorBobby was not in the Marine Corps, but his dad was and instilled that Marine Corps discipline into his sons, and Coach Hauck has credited his late father for this discipline And he instills some of that discipline into his players during spring and fall camps.
So those of you that were not in the Marines, stream " Full Metal Jacket" and/ or " Officer and a Gentleman" if you already haven't watched these two great movies-- this is a taste of what our team experiences every spring and fall. While the late Louis Gossett, Jr. won the Oscar for portraying Marine Drill Senior Drill Instuctor Gunnery Sergeant Foley in " Officer and a Gentleman," and was coached on his role by several retired Marine DI's, " the late Marine Gunnery Sergeant Lee Ermey, who was a decorated combat Marine in Vietnam and an actual Marine DI @ MCRD ( Marine Corps Recruit Depot ) San Diego, is my favorite as Senior Drill Instructor Gunny Hartman in Stanley Kubrick's " Full Metal Jacket." Gunny Ermey died of pneumonia in 2018 and is buried in Arlington--he was 74. And the great Louis Gossett, Jr. died earlier this year of COPD--he was 87.
Our kids every spring and fall experience some of this Marine discipline, and I think this helps make our team physically and mentally harder, more prepared for the season. While Coach Stitt is a good man and an football offense innovator, I think our teams were too " soft" when he was our HC. Our teams are no longer " soft ," and win or lose, they play hard and physical with a lot of effort !!!
Sounds like he is just moving on to try and get an FBS opportunity. We need to stop with the dang "quit on his teammates" thoughts. We have done that dialogue on other players in previous years, and it is really annoying and generally untrue in every case. You didn't say that's how you feel, necessarily, but the statement was brought up, so I am just chiming in to try and stop the crazy talk of thinking these boys are quitting on teammates. This is a very strange time in college football, and I do not believe it can sustain in a healthy way. Athletes in college getting paid and having opportunities to transfer easily is really rough on the college football environment. I so hope it comes to an end soon, but I am a bit afraid we have a few more years of this.Quit on his teammates? Or, well wishes? Need to know which side I’m on…
The issue here is liars don’t care about being right, just heard. So, you are on record that we will be losing Gillman and a couple of linemen. Portal closes soon. What a very specific measure of how right you are in the things you claim.
Don't worry, it's hard to keep track, but CDA is definitely one of the people that's been highly critical of Griz fans saying guys that left (most notably Clifton McDowell) "quit" on the team and is tongue-in-cheek asking to point out the double standard from a lot of those people.Sounds like he is just moving on to try and get an FBS opportunity. Most of your comments aren’t this dumb. So when you apply for a new job, you wait tell after all the other applicants have applied, got hired, and then wait for them to get fired? Won’t get too many good jobs that way. Just the shitty leftover jobs. It's more difficult to transfer in the spring? lmao the people that post on that FB page are about 10x as unhinged as the people that post on this website. I am often amazed at the things people say on there with their whole-ass name attached to it.Hoops should go. They even talk about him on the Griz Facebook page as why they left EGRIZ.
Totally. For the record, I've never thought any transfer in or out was a quitter. I do, however, think it's interesting how some people have tended to treat some departures one way and others another way. Trying to find out why.Sounds like he is just moving on to try and get an FBS opportunity. We need to stop with the dang "quit on his teammates" thoughts. The perception that some players will have a much greater impact by leaving because of their previous or perceived contributions makes the feeling of betrayal much more prominent. Frankly I think its just a natural reaction to caring more about those who impact the situation at a greater level than those who don't...Totally. I agree that some departures "mean more" than others. Wilson and Racanelli have a larger impact in leaving than Huot. Then, there's always departures whose portal entries would have just been cuts pre-portal. But, as I've noted, some impact players get well wishes whereas other impact players seem to be labeled quitters. In other words, even among impact players, there seems to be a bit of inconsistent treatment/perception from some. All comments on that fan page are vetted. You have way more former players and people associated with the University that post there. Like you said, with their namers in full view. It's far more credible.lmao the people that post on that FB page are about 10x as unhinged as the people that post on this website. This is not the burn you think it is haha
