HILLSBORO -- Hillsboro's RJ Nelson won four events and Tualatin's Josh Chandler set an event record in the bench press to highlight the 2016 Metro Area Lineman Challenge on Saturday at Hare Field.

Nelson, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound defensive end for the Spartans, took top honors overall with wins in the 40-yard dash (5.01 seconds), shuttle run (4.26), vertical leap (34.4 inches) and broad jump (113 inches). He put up 16 reps in the 185-pound bench press competition, flipped a truck tire 12 times in 30 seconds and performed a 315-pound farmer's carry 67 yards.

RJ Nelson has made a very wise decision. He must want to be another Oregonian to play at Montana and then have a shot at the NFL, like T Holmes. (and possibly Dante O)

RJ commented how the UM crowd goes wild the whole game. Well yeah!! A few more days and I might start to get my voice back.

Thankfully, by the time RJ arrives on campus, JR Nelson will have completed his eligibility. Having both a JR and a RJ would be too confusing for us e-Grizzers!
