Qvale? FB? Where?

CDAGRIZ said:
Again I pose, just in case somebody with the answer is distracted by the above, what colleges did Qvale turn down for FB scholarships??? :ontopic:

I'm sure it's not even true CDA....If nobody on eGriz knows then nobody knows.

why are you so fascinated by this?

Never seen a 7 foot football player before; I've always thought that a 7 foot TE would be unstoppable; want to know if he got offers from the likes of Pac-10, or Rocky Mountain; This would help me to know if college FB coaches think the same way I do about 7 foot TEs (if he was indeed a TE); would also clue me into just how great of an athlete Qvale is. Should I go on?

I really don't think anyone knows. If you're wondering what a big tight-end would've looked like... see lebron in high school.

I don't understand how nobody can know. I mean, you don't just say, "Oh yeah, so-and-so got offers from college FB teams..." without knowing which teams, do you?

Lebron must have been a monster, 4 inches shorter though; and way better at bball. My thing is that if Qvale is a tremendous athlete, he should be able to dominate a FB game, so why no College FB? It certainly was not because he wanted to go to the NBA. So, knowing whether it was Rocky and Tech, or Oregon and UW who offered him would clear up a lot of things.

Only 7' or football player or close to that was Harold Carmichael (sp) that played for the Eagles several years ago.

Hmmmm . . . how is a 190lb safety going to tackle a 7' 250lb TE? THe guy wouldn't have any kneecaps left by the end of summer camp!

My money is on the fact that someone has/had the two Qvale brothers mixed up and they were actually talking about the little brother being recruited to play football.

....but if I am wrong I would bet they were looking at Brian as a future 6-10, 320lb O-line man

I think it was like 88 or 89... If I recall correctly his name was Terry and was about 7'1"

That's awesome! I wonder if he was very fast. Probably not since we would all remember his name....

Anyway, anybody know who Qvale turned down to play College FB?

Alright, Here is the Frick'n Answer:

For those too, lazy to read!

North Dakota State is the Frick'n answer

Let me repeat

It was Muth'r Frick'n NORTH DAKOTA STATE!!

No other school!!

Now Brent Qvale is a whole other ball game at 6-8 and over 300lbs you have a major O-line man here!

Although you might want to check this out:

NDSU did not offer Brian Qvale a scholarship for football. We recruited him hard for bball, obviously.

This is what the article said reguarding Qvale being recruited to play football:

Q. What positions did you play in high school football?

A. I kicked, played defensive end, tight end and receiver.

Q. Was it a tough decision choosing basketball over football?

A. No, I always really knew I'd play basketball. I like football a lot and I liked playing defensive end, but basketball is where I'm supposed to be.

Q. Who recruited you in football?

A. It was mainly North Dakota schools. Everyone knew that I was going to play basketball so they didn't really bother (recruiting me).

It does not clearly say he was offered. To me it seems to indicate he was not offered, but I do not know. It also seems to indicate that NDSU was the only school to recruit him for football. So if BRIAN Qvale was offered by any school to play football it seems it would have to be NDSU.

Personally I go back to my original statement, I think some got Brent (Brian's 6-8, 307 lb "little brother") mistaken for Brian.

Then why does the official website of the Montana Grizzlies say that he turned down SEVERAL offers to play college football. Wouldn't someone check the accuracy of statements before releasing them using the university's name?

I read that Q & A with Qvale. Did not see anywhere, any reference to NDSU. Only that the North Dakota Schools mainly recruited him. NDSU may have recruited him. But, maybe UND offered him. But, then, the Q & A didn't say anything about offers either. Just recruiting him.
