Quit your bitching

you people bitching need to get over it. The tournament is in its first year and already we have had classic games. Had the women's tourney been in Bozeman, it is unlikely Idaho State would not have been there.
My complaint is the UM mens game tonight is scheduled for 11PM my time..As much as I loathe Idaho it will be a pleasure. The only attendance that matters to me is the number of players and coaches in the game. If you don't like the idea of a neutral court and a more level playing field, too bad. It is becoming the norm. Personally, I hope the neutral court for the Griz v Idaho is better than Dahlberg..it was the worst game I've ever seen for years.

Glad you could find a parking spot Mav. Hope you get a decent seat and please make some noise. That said, if the tourney were in Billings or Spokane, they would be drawing 4-5k easy. Bitching is what we do here.
Thanks parking not a problem just use valet. Yes court side are great seats.
Also a very family friendly feel to the tournament. Coach Decuire took a few minutes to sit and talk with my son and take some pictures. Also spoke with Mick and he really really wants the Griz to make it to the big dance to end his career.

I bet he did. You and the other 12 fans in attendance probably all got a personal visit from the coach.
You could have, had you been there instead of here

Well, the Nevada contingent has spoken.

And yes, I'd rather do away with tournaments and award the title to the league champ, Weber this yesr, Montana last. But since tournaments line the pockets of the league fat cats, we all understand they're not going away. Our argument has always been that in the case of one-bid leagues, you have to do all you can to protect your best team.

I'm glad Reno and the BSC are putting on a nice tournament. But hell, led not go too far overboard. After all, that's what they're being paid to do. I think there's more than enough ribbons being handed out to the undeserving without heaping praise on someone for doing their job.

Nailed it. I for one, do not want a sub .500 conference record be in the NCAA tournament, regardless of conference. If I were part of a 1 bid conference, I would want 1 of the top 2 teams from the conference to represent the conference. Even 1 damn win in the NCAA tournament would likely pay the conference more than a participation ribbon tournament does.

As for this thread. Let me get this straight. It's kind of ironic and ridiculous to bitch about people bitching. It accomplishes nothing.

I do hope the remainder of the tournament is better attended than it has been.

Well said.

I'd go with GrizNY. GrizSC just doesn't have enough Pizzazz.

EG, I know you can do better than keep repeating the "everybody gets a ribbon" mantra. You're starting to sound like Donald Trump and his, "Making America great again" blather.

Post-season tournaments are, by definition, NOT INTENDED to protect the high seeds. If that were the only concern, we'd send Weber State's men and Montana State's women to the Dance and call it good. But every conference in the nation has decided its wants to be a tiny bit relevant during March Madness which is about all that a lot of college basketball fans are resonating with these days. So they have tournaments. Even the one-bid leagues like the Patriot, where they are sending 14-19 Holy Cross to the Dance. They tried to make it very difficult for the Crusaders -- they had to win four TRUE road games in order to get there. Did it. Now what? They probably get a play-in game, which means all eyes will be on them that night. If they lose, hey they lose.

And what's this crap about the league "fat cats" getting anything out of this tournament? Believe me, guys like Ron Loghry and Jon Kasper would much rather let the Montana and Weber State athletic departments run these tournaments on short notice, then do all the organizing work that the conference offices now own for a neutral site tourney. They aren't getting anything out of this except a bunch of work. And the pride of a job well done.

I get that Montana and Weber fans hate the idea of not able to host the tourney, it had kind of become their birthright. Hell, the one year ISU hosted the women's tournament (2012) was great and having the tournament in Pocatello was a hoot. But you guys refuse to even acknowledge the value of having pre-determined travel for the teams and their families. You refuse to acknowledge that giving every team a chance to be included offers the opportunity for moments like Idaho State's buzzer beater over MSU (a No. 9 seed eliminating a 1) on Wednesday, which led Sports Center that afternoon and was named the top buzzer beater of March Madness so far on the USA Today web site. And you refuse to acknowledge that every other conference in America -- including all those one-bid leagues like the Big Sky -- think there is value in allowing every team in their league to compete.

I'd rather listen to blather about making America great again instead of some worn out crooked old hag blathering about continuing the moronic policies of the past 7 years.

Is it ok to bitch about Gfeller's lack of minutes? Is he hurt/sick?? Pure shooter who needs to be on the floor IMO.

Probably a little known fact, but when the BSC was born it was so terrible they allowed the commissioner to remain in Pullman - right shitty mother fucking pullman Washington, because the only commissioner that would take the job was so low he wanted to stay in pullman Washington in case wsc - yes college, they were not even a university then - would come calling. Born a pathetic bastard nobody wanted, dying a worse death at 28th. Go Big Die Conference

I guess you will not be watching the Griz game tonight then because they don't deserve to be playing????
Do you think the Griz football team should not have been in the playoffs this year they finished in third place.
Not trying to be a dick just trying to understand.
No they shouldn't have been we were not that good

So many negative comments about the tournament give it a rest. Those of you that are not at the tournament would not be at any other host site besides Missoula anyways. You want the best team to make it? So you would be happy if the bsc just sent Wsu this year?? Would you like to see only the conference champ in football go to the playoffs? You would be happy to have seen SUU be the only team to represent the Bsc in the playoffs? They were conference champs! Part of the fun of college basketball tournaments is the chance of an upset so if a top seed gets knocked off so what. This tournament has been really well ran and all the players, cheerleaders, band members have been really enjoying themselves. Which is what the tournament is about not a bunch of whiny ass Griz fans!
As far as attendance goes who knows how semi and finals will be? Idaho, weber, and Montana are all represented very well and I expect more Wsu fans to show up today. I was also pleasantly surprised to see some folks at the games wearing wolf pack gear so some locals are showing up.

#sadly

Except for how we've been to the NCAA tournament more than any other team in the Big Sky in the past 15 years.

Don't let facts get in your way though, you never have before :thumb:

2516 attendance tonight. While attendance wasn't great, and I'm not sure anyone expected it to be great, my impression is that teams, including players, coaches, dance teams, bands, parents, and most supporters who came, will say that it was a nice tournament and atmosphere, and that they see nice potential for the future. I know the UM dance team was having fun early in the week. The announcers were saying positive things. I guess we'll see what people have to say. I suppose we may see what Kyle Sample has to say fairly soon.

If people having a good time is the measure of whether the tournament was a success, they should hold it at the Mustang Ranch. Hell, I'm sure it's damn fun. Basketball and booze. But I'm not certain that should be the primary measure of success.
