and "MONTANA-GRIZZLIES".

Speaking of that I hope every griz fan does their part and roars both parts of that chant, so that whole SDSU side of the stadium feels it every time.

I hope somebody sneaks in some Kid Rock and Cotton-eyed Joe into the song rotation early. This needs to turn into a griz party inside Toyota Stadium.

At the 1995 Championship game, the travel agent for the charter I took provided everyone with empty plastic gallon milk jugs with a fair amount of gravel inside. They made great noisemakers. In fact the TV commentators mentioned once when Marshall was in front our section that the Marshall players were having difficulty hearing ... in their own stadium. So the Griz fans plus the artificial noisemakers were effective. The NCAA has since banned noisemakers of the artificial variety. We still can shout and clap, and I encourage everyone there to do so.

Out of curiosity, are you just an FCS fan in general or are you a fan of another team?

I just love college football in general — FBS, FCS, D2, and JUCO. Living in north Texas, there is so much quality ball to watch. I feel myself being drawn more to FCS and D2 as FBS continues to become plagued by consumerism (NIL, overspending on facility upgrades, rampant commercialization, conference destruction). I just love ball. I don’t need/want any bells or whistles. I just want to watch players giving their all for their schools.

Thanks for the support, if i may say, put the Mecca of fcs football WaGriz on your bucket list to watch a game. You will enjoy the experiance .
Go Griz

I do believe more people will begin enjoying the FCS more. There is not so much NIL money being tossed at student athletes. The conferences are pretty stable. The consumerism that is plaguing the big boys hasn't swallowed up a lot of the FCS.

I also think betting on college games is an additional problem that has the potential to create huge problems for all college sport teams.

Anyway, thanks for coming to the site and sharing your thoughts.

That’s a great idea — you all are near the top of my list! From everything I’ve heard and seen on TV, I’m envious. : )

If you’re ever planning it out. Reach out through here to o figure out which game is a must. The night games at WaGriz just feel different. Rivalry games against the cats are on another level and I’m sure Idaho will be a rowdy time on their next visit. I’m sure people could help you out with tickets without going through a third party. The tailgates are always welcoming.

Absolutely seconding Wolf. Don't blow money on third party tickets. Somebody here can likely help you out. MSU week is tough, but other than that we should all be able to hook you up.

Night games have been amazing the last couple of years, and this year just felt like another level. Feel free to plan for that.

Personally, early season games are great for the wonderful tailgating weather and hangouts, but there is just no substitute for the games that matter at WaGriz. The crowd is different. Electric. You will have a good time either way, but if you make it to a game that has the crowd fired up it is a wildly different experience.

You guys are too kind! : )

Somehow I’ve been able to talk my woman into going to Missoula in Fall 2024! I’m thinking about October 12th against NAU.

Any hotel recommendations?

Probably the Weber game is what I would shoot for if you’re planning on that time of fall. There’s several hotels downtown that are close to the stadium and nice. A few that are budget and probably avoid. Hotel depends on if you’re driving or flying.

Well, that will be a revenge game for sure!

She made a smart choice. You won't regret it!

We can all give you more as you get closer, but your most convenient hotel is going to be the Doubletree by the stadium. Easy walk, slightly pricier than other hotels. The Thunderbird is a classic missoula dive hotel, and even closer.

We can talk more as it gets closer. There are missoula staples you gotta hit. The Mo Club is the quintessential Griz bar, and you gotta get a burger. Just cause.

It's a good food and bar scene for a small city this size, but there are a lot of great attractions around the area if you are staying for a bit. Let me know how long you will be around, I was born in Missoula and grew up 60 miles north. Would be happy to give you lots of tips or even meet for dinner//show you around a bit. Whatever you would like.

Welcome to being a Griz Fan. Glad to have you. Up With Montana

Wolf, he is right. You are always welcome to the forum, and you have been great for a long time. Old, good customers deserve the same deal as new customers. Dinner or drinks on me when you are in town.

This sounds like an AT & T commercial, but I’ll take it. I’m drunk on this trip to Frisco, and itching to eat some jackrabbit stew on Sunday. That’s it and that’s all.

Really cool of Bovine to get on and introduce himself. Im always amazed at the reach of griz football and the university of Montana. We are so spoiled to get to experience this program, this team, these coaches, the supporting cast, WaGriz, and the whole Griz Fam Damily .

Hey, no worries there. I'm drunk in MIssoula and real happy to be talking about this season tonight. We are spoiled. I didn't realize it growing up, but the last decade taught me the error of my ways. This is amazing.

Super great of Bovine. Absolutely loving to have this reacsee so many old friends interested now. I've actually reconnected with old buddies over it. We have an amazing stadium, an amazing town, an amazing team, amazing coaches and players, and incredible support for the program inside and outside the university. And a culture started in the 1980's by Don Read, from DOLA to the 37 tradition, that outlives players and coaches alike. We get to love "Grizzly Football," and most of America doesn't even know what that means. We are damn lucky.

Several weeks ago I was watching y’all against Delaware on tv, thinking “how does every college football fan in America not see how great this is?”

As the kids say - if you know, you know.

Hello Folks,

I’m brand new to the forum — I don’t have any connections to Montana, but I’ll be at the game rooting for you all! I love your history and the intensity with which you support your program.

I’m studying up on your games this year, and I have to ask: How in the hell did you ever lose to Northern Arizona?!?! :P

Good luck, and Happy New Year!

BB

That game was mysterious in the extreme. I don't understand it myself and I did a whole bunch of ranting that I kinda wish I could take back. Thank you for the post! Happy New Year!
