Questions for tonight's GFP recording

Piggy backing off a topic a couple weeks ago here. Looks like attendance was just over 27k against UI and as we all know season tickets sold out. If and when we the U expands WAGriz, how would you design an expansion?

I would target capacity at 31-32k with a similar set up like the NEZ expanded corners but on the SEZ where they would essentially hug up against the Jumbotron This would give the SEZ their own identity like the NEZ. Adding 4-5k could be done with this set up.

Last, the boxes on the West side should be completely knocked down and built similar to what they did at Wazzu in Martin stadium. Giving the high rollers something far nicer would generate a lot of interest with donations, etc.

Do we need to hirre a dedicated tackling coach? Defense had some great plays and did well in the first half, but alot of their points came off of missed tickets in the backfield, was frustrating to watch.

Not a question, I just wanted to get involved in your Best RB debate. Its my opinion that Yo is the best ever...for now. First, i like to base my rankings solely of statistics cus memories can be distorted but the stats never change. When looking at the stats you must remember that Yo's playoff stats are not added into his totals. Not until 2002 were playoff stats counted. Yo's single season and career numbers leave everyone in his dust when his playoff numbers are added. Here is my rankings.

----------

#1 Yo
Rankings(Yo's totals)
Most Yards Season-1st(2101)
Most TD's Season-1st/tie(23)
Most Yards Career-1st(4972)
Most TD's Career-1st(56)

Other Records and Accolades
-Rushing Yards per Game season

1st 138.2 Yohance Humphrey ‘01
-Most Attempts season
1st 392 Yo Humphrey ‘01
2nd 321 Chase Reynolds ‘09
-Most Attempts career
1st 942 Yo Humphrey ‘98-'01
2nd 806 Lex Hilliard ‘03-‘05, ‘07
-National Champion

Yo is clearly #1 in every statistical category minus a couple outliers like yards per carry, owned by Dick Imer at +8 in the 50's. Down below I show just how far everyone else is behind Yo.

#2A Chase
Rankings(how far behind Yo)
Most Yards Season-2nd(518)/3rd(599)
Most TD's Season-2nd(1)/2nd(1)
Most Yards Career-2nd(905)
Most TD's Career-2nd(4)

Chase is clearly #2, coming in 2nd in both career yards and TD's and coming in 2nd AND 3rd in both season yards and TD's.

#2B Lex
Rankings(how far behind Yo)
Most Yards Season-5th(779)
Most TD's Season-5th(6)
Most Yards Career-3rd(954)
Most TD's Career-3rd(6)

Lex would be #2B coming in 3rd in both career numbers and only behind Yo and Chase in the season marks, albeit a couple times for each. He does own higher yards per game numbers then Chase coming in at 6th(110) and 7th(102) while Chase comes in at 9th(101), 10th(99), and 14th(89)

#4 Jordan
Rankings(how far behind Yo)
Most Yards Season-7th(906)
Most TD's Season-6th(7)
Most Yards Career-4th(1537)
Most TD's Career-4th(16)

Jordan rounds out the current Mt Rushmore standing in 4th in both career numbers. In season yards he's behind the top 3 and Steve Caputo and in season TD's he's only behind the top 3.

I debated putting Justin Green here but then i compared their Jr and Sr seasons. Jordan out paced justin 2269 to 1784 in yards and 27 to 22 in TD's.

#5 Eli
Rankings(how far behind Yo)
Most Yards Season-10th(997)
Most TD's Season-7th(8)
Most Yards Career-6th(2293)
Most TD's Career-5th(20)

I currently place him 5th only due to the career numbers of those ahead of him. After last night, he is now currently top 5 in both career yards and TD's. By the end of the season though, he could pass Jordan in both categories, etching his way into the top 4.

Honorable Mention
#6 Justin

Rankings(how far behind Yo)
Most Yards Season-8th(955)
Most TD's Season-7th/8th?(9)
Most Yards Career-14th(3188)
Most TD's Career-t10th(34)

Not very high in the career list due to only playing two years. Season numbers place him only behind the top 4 along w/ Caputo. Did have a decent NFL career as a FB due to his size mixed with his athleticism which only him and Lex can say.

#7 Josh Brannen
Rankings(how far behind Yo)
Most Yards Season-11th(1000)
Most TD's Season->10th(12)
Most Yards Career-7th(2598)
Most TD's Career-6th(27)

With playoff stats added he currently stands only behind the top 5 in career TD's and the top 5 plus Ostmo in career yards. Has the highest single season mark of yards per carry since 1954 at 6.82. Eli may change that though, almost surpassing Josh last year with a 6.6 avg.

#8 Bill Kelly
Played in the 20's so statistics are impossible to find. I do know for 75 years he held the school rushing TD record till Yo broke it. He was an NCAA All American in '25 and an All PCC(original Pac12) in '24 and '25. Had a four year NFL career before dying way to young, i believe from liver failure. He did play QB here but essentially then, he was just the 1st RB to touch the ball.

-------------

Eli's Future
Eli has an opportunity to surpass Yo IF he finishes his career here. I think it's safe to assume that if the Griz played 15 games this year and next, that he could average 100 yards a game through those 30 games. That would put him over 5100 yards for his career. The TD mark is gonna be a little closer. He has to average 14.5 TD's each year to break Yo's mark. Last year he ran 15 TD's in an abbreviated playoff. I definitely think it's possible for him to do it, considering he's at 9 already. More likely the biggest hurdle is keeping him here all four years.

If you had to choose between rooting for an NFL team for whom you worked but doesn't have a quality QB or the NFL team you rooted for since boyhood but has chosen an arrogant and doofus prick as their QB, who do you pick?

In this new era of the transfer portal and NIL, is it possible that programs like Montana actually benefit more than they’re hurt, using their sold-out stadiums and strong local support to attract top FCS and even FBS talent? In other words, has college football’s modern system actually tilted in their favor, particularly for well-branded FCS programs like the Griz, rather than against them? For many players, being a local star in front of 27,000 fans in Missoula seems like a better opportunity than sitting on the bench at a Power Five school, or starring for a program with limited resources like Eastern Washington

Question for James: building off of last weeks question, if you create players in College Football 26, and those players are your pod-mates, what positions are they and what is their ability level (speed, strength, agility, awareness)? Don’t hold back!

Ok, so my girlfriend has this thing since last year (HUGE Ah Yat fan) where every time he does something good, she says, "Ahhhhhh Yaaaaaaht". She would LOVE nothing more than any of the Ah Yat fans to say that one time on the pod, she had become a big fan after she started listening last year

Also, GFP beer is amazing...hit that up this weekend before the game, agree 100% with Luke at how good it is, even if it weren't GFP.

Love the show!

We've got a mystery guest too - get at us with questions / comments / etc!

Go Griz!
We are 16 quarters of football into the season. Each of you give me the position group you think has improved the most since game 1 AND just as important, for a friend of mine passing through Missoula this week, where is a must stop for the best local IPA in Zootown. Thanks guys!

Who is CB #3 if Loud is out? Lawler and Ford would both start I assume but they need another guy ready. Also, ISU is always a tough game in Pokey no matter the season. Bengal QB Cook hasn't been lighting it up as much this season but he is good and they have a couple explosive receivers.

The boxes are quite nice, except for the fact that there is only one bathroom for three boxes, and they already generate a significant amount of money. There would need to be some considerable infrastructure upgrades to make any real improvements.
