As you can imagine we’ve got a lot to cover. QB play, defense, exciting moments, big concerns.

Hit us here!

Although it was painful, I see this win as a huge positive. Every good to great Griz team has games like this during a season. As Bobby loves to say, "Winning is hard, losing is easy".

Playing EWU, especially in Cheney has always been a thorn in the side of the Griz. I remember a crushing Homecoming loss in about 1992 when EWU trailed by 18 points or so in the 4th quarter and nipped us at the gun. They ended our 24-game winning streak in 2002 even though they were a middle of the pack team that year (6-5). There were those six straight losses on the Inferno, including one we gave away late with an EWU recovered onside kick in the last minute or so.

Our defense has historically struggled against the quick and nimble quarterbacks that keep plays alive. Usually when we play a pocket passer, the Griz get in enough hits that the QB play digresses as the game winds down. That guy last night was a water bug and was as effective at the end as at the beginning.

Most of the time that EWU has beaten Montana, it's because their quarterback has been superior. Logan Fife simply said Hold My Beer to that notion.

There's not really a question here, but feel free to discuss...

Red Shoe incident: Did we attemp to dislodge the shoe of the EW player as part of our defensive schem or was it in fact that our defense liked the color of the red shoe and was trying to collect a souvenir ?

At this point (knowing each year is unique), does this team feel closer to;

A) 2021- a lot of preseason hype and pieces in place, but not fully complementary, high highs and low lows, a quarterfinal exit

OR

B) 2023- enough on both sides of the ball, but stronger on one side, improving each week after a gut check and a deep playoff run.

Close win Vs. Mo State
Blowout Win Vs. Morehead
Comeback WIn Vs. WCU
Shootout / Offensive Juggernaut Win Vs Ewoo

There is so much to be joyful about in these wins but are we destined to focus on the negatives and feel uncertain about our team all season despite wins stacking up?

It looks more like 2021 to me.

Since 2003, I can’t recall a Hauck coached team with a worse defensive and special teams showing than what occurred yesterday evening. Horrendous, embarrassing, abysmal and apathetic at several points. The defensive side appeared lost and out of position at countless points. The tackling was so bad, I thought they brought Semore back with his remote control tackling dummy! 🤮

An X’s and O’s question. Schematally; What does EWU each year that creates high scoring shootouts? Do they only put their good players on offense? High risk, high rewards offensive can lead to the defense getting overworked. but that isn’t what happened on Saturday. Can you use your contacts to ask someone who played the game, may give Ronnie Bradford a ring.

What is up with kickoff. The griz seem to no longer be able to boot it through the end zone, and they give up returns past the 30 it seems like most times.
I feel like Glasgow has been nursing an injury. He’s constantly been out running sprints to stay warm on the sidelines at home games from what I’ve seen even when the defense is on the field.

Brent - wings at the tailgate this weekend?
Either BWW, Despo, or just have Kristina pre-cook them up.

This is what I was wondering. Hauck almost never loses the ST battle. Many times it is why win close games.
