Questions for the GFP - post NAU win

I have a few questions this week.

1) Hypothetically, how many coaches, if any, in the big sky conference would have the Griz 7-0? I have no clue on my opinion, it’s probably 0, but just a thought I had at halftime when I wasn’t very happy.
2) You’ve probably answered this, but why not call a timeout before the huge TD. Griz were clearly confused. I feel like if you burn a timeout Griz probably win by 20ish.
3) Why does Pease always get cute when the offense is humming. (Bergen pass to White, even though it almost worked)
4) I liked what Silver showed on kickoff.

Thanks! Go Griz!

James, what word or phrase does your dad say that makes you cringe and think, "Man you're old"?

Kyle sure has attended a wildly inordinate number of "weddings" this fall. Are we sure he's not just missing games to stay home and watch Hallmark movies with his girlfriend?

True or false: Idaho is ass.

What's the best alcohol to serve parents who bring their children by your house while trick or treating?

Is it now, officially, a bad omen and Kyle can NOT do a sideline interview as 2 long touchdowns have happened during this time? Some people have commented on the lack of energy from the team. Any of you noticing this? Is this any different than past years from the sideline perspective?

Since we are told by the media to be bear aware and the tourists should look for the hump.
How do we know Monte is a true grizzly bear ?
1) he has no hump
2) looks like Yogi
3)walks on two feet
4)he is brown more like a Alaskan brown bear
? should we change our mascot outfit to something a little more appropriate

Are the bobcats that good or did Idaho forget to even get off the bus?

What’s the deal with Weber losing to UNC… how does that make our loss to them look

regarding the defense, what gets more attention/emphasis during the bye week for the griz:
1) fine tuning and focusing on our current defensive plan and scheme to execute said plan better?
or
2) making minor adjustments and changes to the defensive plan with some new alignment looks, working some different or new players into the mix, etc?

in other words, does bobby go "full bobby" and put his foot in the ground and say "the plan is fine, we need to execute better," or does he show some flexibility and look for some slight modification or revision of their plan? and, no, i'm not suggesting any major scheme changes like switching to a 4-3 or anything like that.

what kind of shape are we in health wise? Gradney, Gillman and Junior visibly looked banged up yesterday and I don’t remember seeing Husted out there. Panfiloff went out. Any word on Grossman? Anything else significant injury wise that you know of?

For James:
1. I value your picks more than the quadrad’s.
2. Applaud that you have the courage of your convictions in your picks.
3. Rejoice that you were wrong in your Griz NAU pick.

Was it just me, or did the NAU center keep having an illegal snap on punts and FGs/PATs? It looked like he was moving the ball just before it was snapped.

Overall health of the team, in particular on Defense who we could get back to improve our performance after the BYE Week. Happy we got the W but at the end of the day we were playing an NAU on their I think 3rd string QB.

Any info on Panfiloff(sp?)? Are we much worse or just a little worse with him out

Botner played a lot better this game with a week of prep. Panfilloff was dressed and on the sidelines for this game, so I suspect he will be back after the bye. Glad we got a chance to get some guys healthy at this point in the season. Even if he’s not 100% we should be fine against UNC and Cal Poly.

1. Several current and former players have commented on the complexity of the defense and how long it takes to get comfortable with the scheme. Would we be better off not recruiting transfers with one year of eligibility on defense?
2. Genatone and Croy (transferred), C.Rostad (injuries - retired), and Leonard (on roster but has been snakebit with injuries). How much has this hurt our LB play?
3. If the Griz look good against NoCo and Poly coming out of the off week, how confident will you be going into the last quarter of the season? Or could this be like 2022 when big wins against EWU and Poly raised expectations for a Griz team with serious flaws?
4. Is the big sky bad this year? Only 4 teams have winning records (kitties, Davis, spuds, and Griz).

Please discuss the upside potential of KAY and Fife. With specifics.
Does the cost benefit of playing KAY over Fife justify doing it this year.

We played a 4-3 on numerous snaps Saturday. They clearly backed off the number of reckless stunts. I think the big question will be whether he is willing to rotate different players in positions occupied by struggling seniors.

Bringing the linebacker up on the line does not make it a 4-3. There are a lot of times we play essentially a 4 man front with our defense, but a LB in a 2 technique is not the same as subbing out a safety to bring in a 4th defensive lineman. I don’t recall seeing Ramos and Hayden in there together. I do however know that we had a really light package that came in where we put a 250 lb nose in and both those guys came out. We ended up having to play that package against a heavy NAU package the next play which was surprising and clearly not planned.
