Questions / comments for tonight’s GFP

What is the bare minimum bobby has to accomplish in 2023 to get a contact in 2024? As well, does he even want a new deal?

Same question I have.

My personal answer would be: win the conference (still technically possible if not absurdly improbable): New Contract. Beat the Cats (see above) and make the playoffs (see above) new contract. Or, lose to Cats, but eek into playoffs and amazingly advance to Semis: new contract.

Sadly these scenarios have a “Mr. Blutarski” level of probability.

I’m not optimistic. I just asked two questions.

If I misunderstood that's on me, the whole "has any team lost a road conference game and made the playoffs" came off as we still have a shot aka optimism.

We objectively do have a shot at 3-1 right now. I’m definitely not sold on the staff, but I’m definitely sold on the players. Every single one of them is a Division I football player for The University of Montana. They don’t get to that point without self belief and experience handling failure. Every one of those guys has failed in their careers before this game, and decided to keep going. I guess if that makes me optimistic, I’m optimistic. I mean, I’m not, but it won’t change a thing about the way I root for the players. Life is way too short to not do the things I like doing.

Its the sense of urgency or lack of, along with no team leadership from the players themselves.......this team is badly broken !

Improvement definitely possible or probable. Vidlak has shown flashes of anticipation and a good ball at times. McDowell has looked good when given a chance! But really we’ve been getting pushed around so I’m thinking a certain November game will be the most important game of our season. So… what can we do scheme wise to avoid the bobcats running for 300 yds on us?

Scheme is part of the problem. The 3-3-5 that the Griz run is massively susceptible to the run. A good offense will push it around. We’ve seen it multiple times over the years.

Bobby has had a string of poor offenses and has been slow to react to making changes to the assistant coaching staff to try and correct the issue. I think this will end up costing him his job. Think back to Joe Glenns first game where the offense put up 9 points in a loss to Hofstra. He about got booed out of the stadium and by the next week, he had replaced OC Ron Richards with Billy Cockhill. We then proceeded to win 13 straight including the semi final win vs App State and played for the National Championship. Granted, the talent levels between the two teams don't compare but Joe was quick to make changes and it paid off. Bobby being so stubborn and slow to make changes will be his fatal flaw! Just a thought, but what is Billy Cockhill doing now?

Tell me you didn't watch the entire O-line quit IN THE MIDDLE OF A PLAY, without telling me you didn't watch the O-line quit in the middle of a play.
