A buddy and I were discussing the the roster and I would like to know the thoughts of others. Are there too many Montana kids to be competitive??????

Is UM not competitive right now? I'd say UM has just right amount. Also, how many high quality out of state recruits would come as walk-ons?

I was bitching about our secondary early this year. I’ll eat crow.

Ryder Meyer 5’9 175lbs from Fairfield is second on the team in tackles. Just amazing.

I was informed earlier this year that there were just too many Montana kids. I guess from the current silence on the subject, that might not be the case now.

There is no question that Montana kids are an integral part of every team we trot out. It’s a huge part of what makes UM football so awesome. There is also no question that out of state kids at certain positions might produce earlier because the learning curve sometimes has a higher starting point on the y axis. Statistically. Over time. Exceptions, as always, abound.

There are several good Montana kids on the Griz , but not 47. There are also many good kids from other states and one from Canada. My view is we should recruit the best Montana kids possibly to a roster level of 15-25 depending on talent and recruit the balance outside our borders. A poster recently stated that I don’t like Montana kids which isn’t close to truth. Both of my children were outstanding athletes at Billings West and my wife’s brothers were well known athletes at Missoula County High School. One held the 440 record in Montana for 10 years. Contrary to many on this forum, I believe we have one of the best coaches in the country. If he wants to carry 47 Montana kids on the roster, so be it.

Some people just need something to bitch about.
The Griz are going to play for the National Championship for Christ’s sake.

Well that is a considerably different viewpoint than you had six-eight weeks ago.
