Name the teams and the order in which you believe they will finish in the Big Sky. First to last.

Name who you think will be coach of the year.

Name player of the year.

Which coaches will be gone after this season?

Will there be a playoff between west and north division teams at the end of the season.

Montana Griz:
Your making this question more compicated than I inteneded it to be.
The answer in predicated on the health of the teams by seasons end, but it would be interesting to see what most griz fans guess the outcome will be.

1. Coach of the year usually just goes to the best team by default. Ash and Baldwin should be right there, if Delaney gets the Griz to the playoffs you can't rule him out.

2. Player of the year; Denarius McGhee, Brad Sorenson, Zach Baumann, or Kyle Padron

3. Coaches gone; (assuming a bad season) Sperbeck at Sac seems like the most likely candidate, although beating OSU and UM last year might get him another season, Sac lost a ton of talent and he's only put together a few good seasons and no playoff apperances. If he's not extended thru the next season and the Griz don't win... at least probably 6 or 7 games - Delaney is probably gone. I always wonder about Souers, he has a talented team coming into the season but NAU never seems to want to part ways with him.

4. So... are you asking if two Big Sky teams will meet in the playoffs? I think so, the bigger conference should send at least 3 teams.

Wow, pretty good analysis! Can't disagree with any of that, although I think that Sperbeck is still pretty safe at sac state. They are not really a football tradition in that area like UC Davis or Cal Poly. I think Souers is much more likely to get the ax.

Souers is able to keep his job because he is of American Indian heritage, and NAU is firmly entrenched in the Indian culture around Flagstaff.

That or maybe because NAU's players have been successful academically and generally stay out of trouble/the headlines?

The university itself is firmly entrenched in neighboring Navajo and Hopi culture. The athletic department... not so much. High school basketball games on the reservation are consistently sold out yet NAU's never been able to latch onto that fervor.

NAU has had its share os criminals within the football program. Seems like a guy name Pisa ____ brofe through a window and purportedly raped a girl. There have been other problems as well.

A multitude of problems occurred in the late 1990s/early 2000s. The Pisa Migale incident (link below) you spoke of was by far the worst.

This link provides a broader view of the crap that was going on. NAU dealt with the same mess that MSU did a few years back and the UofM is going through right now.

Coach Souers deserves criticism for a handful of underachieving seasons but NAU football has cleaned up its act under him since the early 2000s. ASU and UofA get all the acclaim due to off field transgressions now and I am okay with that. But another 5-6 or 4-7 season and I wouldn't be surprised to see the new AD pull the trigger on a change.

5-6 is a normal year; Jerome is 76-82 at NAU. More than a handful of underachieving seasons. He's never beaten Montana. Amazing patience down there, but since few come to the games, who cares, I guess.
