QB's position discussion/Revision 2/spring practices

SSH is the greatest running QB in UM history.
5 rush attempts for 64 yards and 2 TDs for 12.8 yards per carry. That is a TD ever 2.5 carries. If SSH could get 20 carries per game that would be 256 yards and 8 TDs rushing per game. Payton Award lock. IF you disagree with this statistical projection backed by factual data, you more than likely never played the game and are poor and can't donate money to the UM Football team.

I'm bringing up the position discussions again for spring ball. It's gonna be nice to see Gus and Simis play with another year under their belts. I still beleive Simis is the better of the two but we won't really know that tell fall of 2015 and mabey not even then.

I wish I had your confidence in SSH.

To me it's like the Packers losing Rodgers if JJ goes down next season.

Yeah it sucks not having a back-up who was successful as a starter...wait, what?

What has happened to McKinney? Did he leave school or has he been moved to a different position?

He's still here as a QB. Just dosnt have the right skill set to be successful in this system. All the other QB's are better suited for this offense

it would seem logical for McKinney to be moved to running back and let the younger guys get reps at qb,,,imo....

Wasn't Simis recruited for the Pflugrad offense?

I'd say that, if McKinney is the second-best quarterback, put him in that role and count on him being the starter next season.

If not, well, then all bets are off.

A kid recruited and using a scholarship should be earning it some how. If McKinney is on the team, he needs to be on the field in some capacity. He can run, he can throw, just not real accurate. He could give a constant look of change to an end-around, never know if he is running, handing off or throwing.

I'm normaly a pro Delaney guy but u know as well as I that using McKinney to that extent is far too creative for this staff.

Sadly, I think you are correct. Seems to me that T-mac has far too much talent not use him someplace - I believe he could contribute - but then again, that may require some creativity.

Sounds like the "Gerald Kemp Problem" from 2/3 years ago - not really accurate enough to unseat anybody as a QB, but too athletic to be kept off the field.

And yet it appears either the player, or the coaching staff (or both) haven't learned a thing from the GK disaster. Unless the kid's got hands of stone I see no reason not to have him play 15-20 plays a game as either a slot, RB or Wildcat-type formation. Get him on the field, or give his scholly to someone who can use it.

Well it looks like you guys got your wish. TMac switched to #23 and is a safety. He has the athleticism. Wonder if he can play it though.

Interesting. Still think he could be a weapon on offense.

Agreed, but I just want his athleticism on the field. Anywhere.

+1 EG! The kid's a gamer!

Agree, McKinney can play, get the rock in his hands 5 or 8 times a game. Call it the wildcat or anything (except the Bobcat) and let his skills challenge any DCs game plan.
