You live and learn and you learn more from your mistakes than your successes. Simis is a coach's son. His dad has been in his face from time to time also. He is used to it as are all players.
This kid is 2 and 1 for his first 3 starts. It doesn't matter how he got there. After game one he was the best thing to come down the tunnel on egriz. After week 2 he was the worst thing to come down the tunnel on the same forum. Now after week 3 he is terrible again. This kid has only had 3 starts. Believe me it will get better. People on this board are probably more flustered than he is. He is a mentally tough kid. If Jones catches the 3rd down pass that hit him in stride and in the hands, if we make a couple of missed field goals, if Henderson's kickoff return stood, if our safeties were where they should have been and we stopped a couple of more touchdowns, and if the defense actually stopped a couple of plays they had rehearsed and rehearsed in practice all week and failed to stop, (and those are just a few instances) we would have won big and be talking about how great we are. None of those things happened and we still won. It is football and the breaks happen both ways throughout the game. Like golf its only the score that matters in the end not how you arrived at it.
Keep the faith! No player is as good as some of us think they are nor are they as bad as some of us think they are. The same is true of coaches, preparation and play calling.
I think we will be OK this weekend regardless of who the quarterback is. If it is Simis he will be fine and if it is Brady he will be fine and I still think we will win. Go Griz!!!

Have to agree. We have watched a lot of FCS games this season (they're out there if you look for them). We have seen damn few teams that do not have weakness ... and sometimes major weaknesses.There's some great talent out there, no doubt about that, but hardly anybody has what you'd call a "complete" team.jtgriz2 said:

Admittedly, we have not had a chance to see Jacksonville State play ... maybe they are it. But get over the notion that FCS has a lot of really good teams ... it doesn't.

Alpha, I don' think the Griz can win a playoff game on the road. At home, yep, they can. Win it all? Hell no. So I'm not in that 98 percentile. Having said that, you KNOW they are in at 7-4, playoff caliber or not. So, I'm asking any of you who say no to the Griz being a playoff team, to answer this question honestly. IF the Griz run they table, and are invited to the dance, what should they honestly do about it? Turn the bid down? Fell bad that they got in because their fans think they suck? Tank the MSU game on purpose not to get in? Honestly, those of you who say they don't deserve to get in, what should they do about it?>

Who knows who starts and is the best QB for this team. To bad you could not mesh Simis and Gus in one and have a Utah QB Travis Wilson!
I don't think I would play Gus at this point. Heck one quick cut of hit and Gus is back to square one or worse.
If for some crazy reason we make the playoffs, maybe then maybe play Gus. That said I don't think we see Gus on the field again this year.
Next year the QB battle should be wide open come spring ball!

I can fully understand the frustration of the coaches with the play of Simis and his total inability to execute. Simis is currently a 1 trick pony, and even doing that he keeps screwing it up. I feel fairly confident that Simis will not return next season.

Brian Ah Yat who I thought was one of the best quarterbacks to ever play here after his sophomore year hurt his leg his junior year against Wyoming and I never thought he was the same afterwards. His confidence was shaken and that affected him the rest of his career. That is not to say he wasn't good but he wasn't as good as he was before the injury and missing some time. It is a huge concern you have with a quarterback who gets injured. Sometimes it gets in their heads and they can't seem to get past it. I hope Brady does but we'll never know until he gets the chance to play again. Just because one is physically healed doesn't mean his confidence is, or will be, the same as it was before he was injured or that his performance level will be the same either.

Mariani got seriously hurt and seems to be completely over it. Let's hope the same goes for Gus.
