QB

I wish Simis had the experience to take advantage of progressions. Unfortunately, it is a huge problem for him. Physically, he has all the tools. After seeing the offense under Gustafson and Simis, I see why Gustafson is Stitt's preferred option. The offense is more diversified and dynamic with Gustafson at the helm. Gustafson just has to work on gaining some more consistency with his accuracy. Before his injury, either the WR's were dropping his passes or they were not on the same page with him in reading the defenses.

We need a qb capable of putting up 35+ points against EWU and MSU. Even if the GRIZ defense is playing well, holding either team to under 30 points will be difficult. To be honest, of the 2 offenses, I feel the GRIZ Defense matches up with EWU's offense better.

I doubt the defense will be carry the GRIZ the next 2 games. The offense will have to do it's fair share for the GRIZ to win out. OL and QB play are the keys for the GRIZ to make the playoffs.

Like many have said, instal run focused wildcat offense with a few simple pass reads, with a limited number of plays to learn. Plan to the players strength. The wildcat can still be used once Gus gets back into run the base offense.

You can tell that Stitt really doesn't like Simis. Everytime the offense stalled a drive, he was chewing his ass out for making the wrong read. Stitt's facial expressions said it all. You could also see that they really have to dumb down the offense for Simis compared to the others that have played QB this year.
Well, given that Dakota was out for a few minutes yesterday, it is still interesting to note that Makena's pass completion percentage was about the same, and Makena both threw and ran for more yards than Dakota, and had one less interception than Dakota.

Each with three games now, Makena's overall stats are better than Brady's with one key advantage: Makena has become our leading rusher over the past three games and led everyone again yesterday.

Where both Makena and Brady resemble each other is that, as each has played successive games adopting Stitt's strategy, they both have performed more poorly. That "dumbed down" offense gave UM it's best win, it's most points, and its best QB performance in years. The more "brilliant and detailed" offenses are giving UM some of its worst game performances in years.

Against the same team, UND, Makena far outperformed Dakota Prukop, getting a big win, as against MSU's painful loss.

Had it not been for JN's TD run being called back, and Jones dropping a Makena pass that was a perfect pass and would have led to a TD, yesterday would have been a great day.

A problem with someone like Coach Stitt is his unwavering belief in himself, at the sacrifice of believing in his players. I don't like what I'm seeing on the sidelines. It's not Monday morning yet, but Makena is a real talent, but his talents are his own. The measure of Bob Stitt is whether he will take the fullest advantage of those talents, or will try and hammer them into something they are not suited for and wreck the QB talent that he has, in favor of something he does not have.

On the other hand, we could be MSU:

And if we're honest, our qb situation is a mess. Prukop has significantly regressed this year. Horrible decision making and wildly inaccurate. Maybe we need a change and should let Bleskin start the last two games so we can avoid ending the season on a 4 game losing skid. Nothing meaningful outside of cat griz to play for this year so why not give the senior a chance to shine for the final two games this year.

The QB's we have this year definitely don't have what it takes to run this offense. I can't wait until we get QB that can run this offense.
Hopefully we'll be alive to see it. Apparently it takes an engineer disguised as an athlete to function at its full potential.

Coach Stitt said Brady was 70%. It isn't fair to Brady to start him risking the chance of another injury which could end his playing days. Makena is mobile and can avoid the charging defensive players through a non blocking OL.

What makes you say it's ever been run with its full potential?

Stitt said one Tuesday show not long ago that Brady was only @ about 70%. He broke a leg gang. Let's let the kid heal up. No NC THIS YEAR. Why risk it?

I'm not sure the team or the coaches are thinking, "no NC this year so WTH" I would like to believe that their thought is that if we win this week, we get Ewoo at home, then the usual Scat beat down, eke into the playoffs and is a whole new season from there. That's what my heart says

If Simis plays well, it will be interesting to see if he becomes the starter going forward. This may well be his make or break game for the rest of the season.

Given the general lack of defense played by our last three opponents, Simis could look like a Heisman winner these last three weeks...

if he would only hand the ball off during overtime

It was at Colorado School of Mines, where the team featured more cerebral players than Stitt is dealing with now.

I agree Stitt's sideline antics are over the top. To much can produce a kid who's afraid to make mistakes. Instruct.....yes. Demean....no.

All of the talk about the play-offs. Do you folks really believe the Griz are a play-off worthy team?

It's mathematically possible, but I wouldn't put down any money on it.

Don't think we need an engineer, just someone who can read a D and quickly make correct choices.

I would love to see Jordan Johnson run this offense.

That would be amazing.

Playoffs ...hmmmm. I think we have a decent chance of getting in IF we win out, but the montana team that shows up the next two weekends better have a ton more focus fire and imagination that showed up in Portland and Pokey.

No, but amazingly it is still possible with the remaining schedule.

I don't think I've seen a year in this conference where, literally, anybody seemed to be able to beat anybody.

Were people watching a different feed than was available on eversports? I don't recall once seeing Stitt chewing out anybody on the sidelines...
