????? QB’s

The Griz don't have starting qb going into winter conditioning.
Among Abbott, Vidlak and Huot we do. And have plenty of time to select.

A 4th and 5th stringer and and someone new to the offense.

I don't care how anyone tries to spin it...it's just a huge unknown going into next season and not the position where questions are preferred.

The Griz have had good or very good QB's every year under Bobby. Why does anyone care where they came from? Especially with the portal.
That is just not true at all Hoops.

Vidlak has 3 years remaining. He can make all the throws. He's job-hopped because he wants PT; I think he'll get it here. Huot and Abbott will both be ready to compete this spring. With Vidlak we'll have the depth we need at QB.

Has there been any confirmation that Vidlak actually would get 3 years? I thought the transfer portal was only accessible one time without having to sit out a year, and this would be Vidlak's 2nd transfer. I know grad transfers don't count, but I find it unlikely Vidlak has graduated in only 2 years.

My understanding is that applies if he stayed FBS, he would have to sit a year but if they drop down it doesn’t apply.

Vidlak was a RS-Freshman at Boise St this last season. He would be a RS-Soph wherever he transfers to

Yeah, he's essentially using the old transfer rules before the one-year exception was implemented.

And here’s some good information on the current transfer rules and what else is being looked at:

Abbot has an arm and can sling it, but his receivers had separation on a continual basis from the footage that is available. Can the Griz receivers achieve the same? Honestly don’t know right now. I hope spring ball answers some questions. Without a run game and a bunch of dozers up front - it could be more of the same. I am hopeful that another year under some of the OL’s belts is going to make a difference. Especially with Gilman in the backfield.

Not trying to burst the hype bubble for Abbott, but according to the premiere recruiting site, Rivals, he had zero offers from any FBS or FCS school coming out of high school. Rivals does not list offers from Div. II teams, so he may have been offered by some of those.

Vidlak has a way better arm than Johnson, however he's not a dual threat like Johnson. Unfortunately. Can't we just get a guy that can nail 70 yd passes and run a 4.3 40. That'd be dope. Lmao

He plays for Tennessee.

Well then just eliminate him from consideration to compete for the job here. How could anyone without a proper Rivals profile play at this level? They are always so complete and accurate. I wonder what DD's profile looked like coming out of HS.

DD never lost a high school football game that's how it looked.

According to most on here, we don't want all the project kids from Montana or anywhere else. We only want the top talent so we can compete in DivI. Which is it?

Taking a kid from Montana that never lost a high school football game, from the largest classification, and part of program that at the time, was second to none, was a no-brainer. His leadership skills were second to none and were on full display. Outside of developing players, selecting them is number one. Simply recruiting kids from Montana so you can say you have kids from Montana is dumb.

Yes!

Dedicating almost 50% of a Division 1 roster to kids from Montana because they are from Montana is ridiculous!

Dave Dickenson was a walkon. CMR was a powerhouse at the time and he was buried in the depth chart when he came. It was far from a forgone conclusion that he could make it as a DI player. There are scads of HS superstars that can't even sniff DII. Why didn't we just take the entire CMR team from those years? None of those kids lost either. I was there when DD played his first snaps and it was clear at that point but certainly not before. It was in Eugene Oregon.

Just saw the Bishop Gorman QB has only two offers one is Port St. Played Top competition all year.

5’10; 160 (5’8; 148 in combine numbers). Looks like an offer from HI as well?
