PW comments and EGRIZ.. be careful what you say

We should definitely let Pat run his mouth at the expense of our University.. reflects terrifically on the U, esp when you're cutting dozens of jobs because you can't make ends meet.

Gosh Titlest, maybe Pat was on to something.
"If I drastically slash future enrolment we didn't need so much staff anyway."
Crazy like a fox that old fart.

I've been told that the admissions office and groups that handle new student orientation at the start of the spring semester had lots of questions from concerned parents and students as well, wondering about how bad the "thug" element is at the UM.

true on this one, summer school sessions are not looking good and depts. will likely cut certain courses and furlough faculty as the bad press still resonates with both new and continuing?? students...

it will take a while for this to work its way through as the thug thing is top of the mind and the biggest issue will be what happens in the fall.

Employees owe a duty of loyalty and a duty of care to their employers; even beyond a command of "do no harm," the duty is more positive than that.

It is hard, under routine, conventional employment law, to see how either Engstrom or Williams did not fully breach those duties by causing, with their careless comments causing great harm to their employer, a very explicit and obvious breach of their duties to their employer.

In private enterprise, their actions, causing great financial and reputational harm to their organizations and to the good and decent people working therein, people who are attempting to promote the University against the headwinds and damage caused by Engstrom and Williams, would ordinarily be fireable offenses.

They breached the very ordinary, but very important, duty of care.

Is the University not important enough to Montana and to the necessary function of higher education that they "get another shot at it?"

Why?

As a politcal force maybe we should jump on Wayne LaPierre's bandwagon and push for allowing assault rifles, etc. into Washington-Griz on game day. Everyone can do the Sadam thing of fireing into the air after every
score! I'm sure the Founder's would concur as they fired their musket's in the air after horse races. Griz Cat would be a bloodbath. God Bless the NRA!

Not trying to paint with too broad of a brush here but I've seen on so many occasions where an "important person" getting into their twilight years and becoming perhaps a little less important, tend to make, attention grabbing, ignorant and petty comments. PW I'm sure is not stupid person but he sure did a stupid thing and made himself look like a fool. Like zen said, the healing will begin only after a true apology!

Just a question I don't know the answer to. Was Pat just doing his wife's bidding.

Funny quick story. A friend of mine from out of state has his sophomore son looking into schools for football. He is expected to be borderline BCS/FCS player, so he is doing his research early. Via google search they stumbled onto egriz. They were reading some of the more recent egriz posts for the hell of it.

Anyway, I get an email from them, asking if they should be concerned about the GRIZ recruits thugs?
He was not to sure what to think of the "thug" comments we make now in making fun of PW's comments. I tried to explained it to him. His concerns are a lot less, now that he also found the links and researched PW's comments. He said it is good to hear some dumb ass said comments that were unfounded, and most the recruits are great people.

He was really concerned at what he was 1st reading though. Now, he told his son it is okay to consider Montana again.

They should be more concerned about the NCAA, DoJ, and DoE investigations, not that I think anything will come of them.

Pat did what you don't do in polite society.
Exactly, what we need to do is put our hands over our ears and go la la la la la la and hope it all blows over.

Milt, this begs the question, would you really know if reading them did make you dumber or not? Maybe it reduces your ability to assess your own intelligence? Ask your wife.

I am now dizzy from reading your post...my wife says I'm just drunk...and constantly getting dumber. Could be.
