Push to make week 0 the permanent starting week

Seems the powers that be would like to see the season start the week before Labor Day for everyone under the guise that teams would have an additional bye week. I’m sure they have players at the top of their list of concerns, and any future earning potential of more games was not part of their decision making process at all.

FBS commissioners expect the conversations to continue in the coming weeks. The FCS is expected to soon formalize its own move to permit schools to begin playing on Week Zero.

FCS has already approved this move to start 12 game seasons. It would not allow time for an additional bye week.

I understand the increase to 12 for FCS but it is not new for FBS. I also agree with the intent to provide that extra bye week. Week 0 started that way as an incentive.

How long before greed takes over for extra revenue over player safety and tv/streaming contracts push for that extra game? NFL used to only play a 10-12 game season then to 14 then 16 and yet here we are at 17 games and growing when $$ trump all.

Yep. Today week 0 while in time it will be week 1 or the FCS week before Labor Day.
