News said it was 500 short of a sell-out. Good job fans!!

I think the news is wrong. Attendance was just over 4,300 and the fieldhouse capacity is around 7,300. Certainly more than 500 short of a sell out.

Ahh. Makes sense.

If memory serves me correctly, i believe i read somewhere that a PSU player had made a bold statement and told all of the PSU fans after a loss to Weber State that he gaurenteed PSU not to lose another game in conference play. If this is true then the crow hes going to eat, should taste swell. Since that statement did not work out so well i wonder what the next statement will be from a very, very talented but sometimes too COCKY basketball team. Great game GRIZ, lets get a Win saturday night. GO GRIZ :)

I liked the big sign in the student section: "What goes on in Mexico, doesn't stay in Mexico".

Also, the students wearing sombreros (sp.? mexican hats).

The cheerleaders will be doing a special halftime performance at the Saturday game. Don't miss that.

Domingus didn't look like much tonight. Maybe he was rattled by some of the sideline fans reminding him of some of his apparent indiscretions last year after the game in Missoula. PSU stayed overnight in Missoula after the game last year.

Indeed.

Nice win over PSU!

This is what Waters actually said since it was mentioned in this thread:

Talk is Cheap
Before Thursday night's game in Portland where the Wildcats beat the Big Sky's #1 team 80-66, there was an article in The Oregonian with quotes from the Portland State players commenting about how they would be beating everybody and no one would have much of a chance. It is understandable that they should be a confident team, they did after all beat the #7 team in the nation on December 23rd, upsetting Gonzaga in Spokane 77-70, also, the Vikings had won 17 straight Big Sky games until Weber came to town this past Thursday.

Jeremiah Dominguez, PSU Point Guard
"We feel like we can't be beat,
" Dominguez said. "We have to play a certain way, but I think our guys are learning what we need to do to win, and that's the biggest part of our game."

"We can win anywhere," said Dominguez, the senior point guard and last season's Big Sky MVP. "It really doesn't matter where we go. I think we know what we need to do.

"The only way we could lose is if we beat ourselves because we have the talent and we shouldn't get beat. I think everyone on the team feels that way."

Dominic Waters, PSU bench player
"We don't want to get ahead of ourselves, though," said Waters, who was named the Big Sky's player of the week after hitting the game-winning free throws with 6.5 seconds left and finishing with 41 points Sunday. "We want to stay confident in what we do, work hard and continue to do what we've been doing, and the games will take care of themselves.

"It's just like 'Miah said, if we start playing selfishly, stop moving the ball and stop playing defense, we'll lose. I don't see it happening because we're playing well, and you can't help but play together when you're winning."

After Weber beat Portland State on their own court to end their long winning streak, the talking didn't stop; below are more quotes from Waters just after the game.

In the article it mentions how Waters felt sick that the Vikings lost to Weber. It said he was adamant that what happened was out of character and he practically guaranteed the Viks would get the win in Ogden in February.

"I still can't believe it," Waters said. "I'm disappointed in myself and our team for not pulling this out."

"I told them, we're going to be ready when we go up there and we will win when we go up there," Waters said. "We won't lose any more. Not any games. The rest of the season, we will not lose again."

I saw JD Quinn sitting courtside & he was having a great time harrassing the PSU players, especially going back & forth w/#21 Phil Nelson. Good to see some football players attending the hoops games. Hopefully we can have another big loud crowd for EWU on Saturday.

Quinn sitting courtside has to be a tad intimidating to a punk like Dominguez. PSU has a ton of talent, but Tinks guys wanted this game bad. Good for them.

I wish the students had chanted "back to normal" instead of "overrated".

Agreed, the overrated chant always is a bit backhanded to your own team. It diminishes the accomplishment.

It was a nice win for the Griz, and I was glad I was there, cheering them on. It was a nice crowd, and a very competitive, hard-fought game. AJ and Sharp played very well.

Let’s keep it in perspective, however. We’re still in third place, and we still have a steep hill to climb. Not saying we can’t do it, but it is a steep climb.

Did he drive home afterward?

Quinn the guy who got the boot from a FBS program, loves to drink and drive in his spare time, and Dominguez is the punk? Awesome!

Yes, Quinn, the guy who will be playing in the NFL last year.

Is PSU proud Dom's assault charges in Mexico last year? Are you aware of his indiscretions in Missoula last year? If you aren't, ask the players and coaches. He's lucky to be on the team.

Those assault charges were dropped and both he and Morrison were cleared of any sort of wrongdoing.

Indiscretions? Just what I've heard on message boards. Care to elaborate?
