PSA -- Don't buy your Griz Gear at the M Store or Scheels

Still owned same people. Started by Larry Aasheim and Dick Harte. They out the team sport business into a bigger group a few years ago. I know Karry and Dick. Talked to Larry at Easter Brunch at Riverside Country Club a few months ago. I they have main fitness center in Bozeman now too.

are you having a stroke? call 911.

Please tell us more about the Fanatics radical agenda.
I don’t know the specifics, but someone who tells me how to think said they push a radical agenda because the whole “online” thing means they support English bulldogs competing against French bulldogs at Westminster. Further, we never needed “online” when I grew up, and I don’t see any reason to change. What are they trying to pull?

There is absolutely nothing radical about Fanatics. A globalist sportswear monopoly with offices in the Bay Area to tap into the Silicon Valley tech talent pool. During the “pandemic” the company even stopped producing MLB uniforms to produce “masks”.

Fanatics’ philanthropic arm helps fund the World Central Kitchen and other socialist efforts to “feed” the “poor”.

Fanatics’ parent company, GSI (Global Sports Incorporated), has purchased an on-line betting platform to enhance the global sport fans’ experience.

I believe we can all agree that there is nothing radical about Fanatics.
Oh BS! Get your head out of the sand! It starts with this “online” thing, which was radical enough, then you have people supporting “feeding” others like it’s just normal or something, next thing you know, they’ll do some other thing with which I’m unfamiliar. They must be stopped before they come for our rights.

If you really want to discuss entities pushing a radical agenda, we should talk about ESPN. You lost me on the bulldogs deal, likely your goal.

To those of us non-city dwellers out here on the frontier, online purchasing is a godsend. I've bought gear from Fanatics for many years and have never been told how to think nor have they given me any reason to lose trust for online purchasing. Their selection of Griz gear is unsurpassed by any local retailer I've seen.

Online purchasing does, however present the challenge of getting rid of all the cardboard which is no longer recycled.

I entered your response into Chat GPT and we both laughed at you!

According to Chat GPT, online shopping is almost as safe as online voting. Also according to Chat GPT I have an above average size penis and I smell really good.

Well, you make some strong points. But they're no ESPN now are they?

Don't get me started on ESPN. It used to be that I would tune in and disagree with some people who brought me sports news/highlights, and now it's almost like I tune in and disagree with some people who bring me sports news/highlights. It's too much to take.

As for the Fanatics, I simply choose not to support their radical agenda pushed on us via "online" retail when their obvious goal is to brainwash our youth who are too dumb to think critically (yes, I was that age once and was able to think for myself, but that was different). Tell the Frenchie who worked her haunches off to make it to Westminster only to have some English waltz in and steal the ribbon that it's no big deal. Fanatics must go.

Scheels also seems to support lots of local events, that and the fact that it provides a considerable number of jobs to the local economy...
Thanks for posting. I never heard of Scheels until you posted. In the past I always used the UM bookstore for Griz gear. I like some of the alternative gear of Scheels and their competitor, Uptop. I already buy from Fanatics for Texas gear especially their hats.

I love Uptop and will never set foot in a Bob Ward & Son’s ever again. They got rid of local merch from Uptop and it is now owned by a private equity firm. Not sure if they are even open any longer in some towns.
Wards was bought by a family owned sporting goods outfit out of Utah, not 'private equity". My niece's SO worked for Wards and is still there. I'm one who patronized Bob Wards for decades and doesn't care for the new direction but you need to get the facts straight.

Fair enough. Does it really matter who owns it? Terrible business decisions. That’s all I need to know. Won’t darken the doorstep of any of their locations.

Throw the cardboard in the fire ring while consuming a cold beer. Recycling this way is good for your blood pressure.

Checking in and your work is even better than I thought it’d be. Not sure if I underestimated you; or overestimated this board as a whole.

I don't know how many people caught this tidbit in another thread, but The M Store is owned by the MSU Bookstore. Every dollar spent there not only leaves Missoula, but goes to fund the rivals. Scheels gave a $5,000,000 to the Bison to build their basketball stadium.

I'm not saying that either is evil or anything, but just a PSA that Griz gear money is going to rival teams. I'll be going with The University Bookstore or UpTop in the future.
MStore Employee here. The same company who owns the non-profit bookstore at MSU owns our store. Neither one of our stores are affiliated with the university meaning that we do not give any money to the university. Any money we make goes straight back into the MStore to keep the business sustainable. As for scheels, I am not sure.

This sounds exactly like what a Fanatics “online” rep said in the beginning, and we all know how that turned out!

Believe what you want. As for personal opinion I can not convince you to understand the truth. I however can explain to you that our small business runs just as any other in that any money/profit we make only goes directly back into paying rent at our store location and buying product to then sell. The only difference is we aren’t affiliated with the university meaning we don’t pay the school all of our profit. It is just as any other merch store you would find in any other college town. We pay for the rights for logos and select the yearly merch to sell.

I’m just goofin’ with you, my guy. But, seriously, does the MStore disavow Fanatics “online”? (More like FanANTICS, am I right?)
