It’s interesting to observe the contributors on Griz board who condemn mostly the coaches but sometimes players when the Griz lose. They want to fire the coaches or sit a player when they make a mistake or fail to win a game. I guess it’s just human nature but sometimes it gets taken to the point where it serves no purpose or becomes counterproductive.
To be honest I sometimes fall into that category as well. But as fans and players and coaches as well we need to recognize that it’s just a fan board which gives us the forum to vent our grievances or less often our praises and in the the greater context has little bearing on the world we live in.
I guess when it comes to superfluous or totally inane contributions to a fan board this submission would take the cake. Chalk it up to a boring Christmas morning.
This all started when I wanted to see if other fan boards were as contentious as the Griz board? So I went on the Weber State basketball fan board and discovered their fans are as two-sided as we are. Back to that human nature thingy again. One poster condemned the new basketball coach as being in over his head and again condemned the AD for hiring him. Two weeks later he was singing the coaches praise when they beat the undefeated USU Aggies. Go figure
I want to wish all the Griz board fans a very healthy, happy and safe Christmas and prosperous New Year!

<ditto> on the large text.

As for the rest: It must surely be against some rule or another to actually talk sense on a fan board.

Repeat: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

90% made by you. You are told this daily by a multitude of posters, but because of your terminal narcissism, it sails right over your thick skull.

Wait till ya see “Money” ball!

I'll wait and trust my own eyes. You should probably wait too given your history!

I like how the griz have gelled through the non conference and are playing much better. I predicted a 5th place finish in conference before the season and I'll stick with a 5th place finish. Some other BSC teams have also came together and look real solid. Still too many scoring droughts and wish they were 2 guys deeper.

Tonight’s game and Saturday nights game against E. Washington and Idaho will tell us a lot about how well the Griz will do in conference. I prefer to be optimistic and feel we’ll finish no lower than 3rd. I do think we have the players in place to be very competitive. However, again I think we’ll need 3 players in each game to be productive in order to win. And it does specifically mean in scoring but defensively against an opponent’s top scorer. Even if Mac Andersen only scored 4 points but had 9 rebounds and 2 blocks that would go a long ways towards being a major contributor.
One area that I think will go a long ways towards our success is to be in the 35/40% on 3’s. This will open the inside for Bannon, Thomas, and yes Mac Anderson to score but also control the boards which has been a major deficiency over the past several years. Another area that needs to improve is turnovers. We need to get them down to single digits from our current double digits number. Five or six more scoring opportunities per game will go a long ways towards achieving our goals.
Anyway those are my thoughts and I’d like to hear what others are thinking.

I think this is exactly right, which is why I don't understand why teams don't employ this strategy: Token full-court press - Fall back into a zone.

1. This forces the Griz to start their offense with about 20 seconds on the clock. Their average possession length is already 19.7 seconds (350th out of 363 teams).

2. Whitney is shooting 83% at the rim (which is absolutely mind-boggling) but 20% from 3. A zone would completely eliminate Whitney's ability to drive to the basket. If he beats you from the perimeter or with passing, tip your hat to him. Letting him get 10-12 drives to the rim at 83% vs. 20% just doesn't seem like a smart strategy to me. But I am just a caveman eGriz poster, basketball strategies confuse and frighten me.

3. Keep a close eye on Moody and don't let him get off clean 3's. Moody is the exact opposite of Whitney. Only 7 made shots at the rim and 21 3FGs. If Moody can beat you doing something else than 3's, you just tip your hat to him.

4. With this, DT and Bannan would have to BOTH go bonkers. I like my chances containing the rest of the roster.
