Would not normally expect a #3 to drop a lot after losing to #1 ... but, let’s face it, they got blown out. But I still see them staying in the top ten. That allows spots 4-9 to nudge up one spot.

The other #9 (Illinois State) got shut out, at home, by an unranked team. I may have been generous dropping them only to #16. Towson lost a close one at #5 JMU, so I figure a drop of four spots is about right. Eastern Kentucky lost on the road to a very good (undefeated) Tennessee State team, so they should not drop too much. That should also get Tenn State a ranking.

I may have been too generous dropping Delaware by “only” seven slots. After their quick start, they’ve looked pretty bad, and it would not surprise me if they get bumped out completely. I did bump Citadel -- another team that had a quick start and has not backed it up since. Finally, I bumped Northern Iowa because that 1-4 record just looks out of place among all the undefeated and one-loss teams.

I would love to be wrong about the Griz moving back in, but Albany’s 5-1 record can’t be ignored.

We won't move back in beating a 1-4 UNC team on the road and evening our record to 3-3 but a win vs SUU could probably launch them in next week.

Don't count your chickens yet Brint. You still have to stop the laser dart throwing machine that is Sorenson. I don't see that happening with your secondary.

Brint, I agree a win over SUU would get the Griz back in the top 25 (depending on losses in front of them). I think the 98' team dropped out and ended up 14th at the end of the season.

LTCF, is Sorenson very mobile? on't know much about him?

Great QB, for sure, but he hasn't been that great so far. He doesn't have anyone of note to throw to and his line hasn't been anything special.

I have a hard time seeing Montana losing that game. :twocents:

Not really mobile at all. He's a big dude 6'5" 230 with a big accurate arm. His O-Line is pretty decent. He makes his receivers look better than they are. Jessop is their big play receiver. No real running game to speak of.

Defensively they aren't great, and their top DB was arrested (I assume kicked off) shortly after the MSU game.

I think this could be high scoring game. UM secondary will face their toughest test of the year, and the SUU run defense could get gouged badly by Nguyen and the UM O-Line.

Not running mobile, but mobile enough to buy time in the pocket. They saw something in one of our CBs and he took a lot of shots downfield against Flowers. I remember Ash saying in the post game that SUU took 10 deep shots and completed 2 or something like that. But his receivers dropped a couple. If your CBs give him much space to throw into, he'll make them pay. Should be a good game!!

I told a group of people how great the suu qb was before the msu game. As we sat and watched the game they thought I was crazy, he was terrible for the most part against msu. Which of course means he will throw for 500yds against the griz and look great.lol  I had heard rave reviews about the kid, but thought he was inaccurate against the cats.

On a side note damn the cats are doing a great job of winning games when not playing their best.props to them. If they play up to their potential they will start killing teams.

UCD came out in the second half and started playing with conviction and heart.....go adjustments at the half.....put pressure up front and blitzing on denarius, pretty decent coverage not always being 10yds+ off the receiver, hitting hard causing key turnovers.....pretty good playbook for the griz.

Like bcatfan1 said Sorenson is just mobile enough and if his receivers would have continued running through a lot of plays, the completion rate on those long balls would have been 75%. As has been mentioned, his receivers aren't very good, but make no mistake, Sorenson is the real deal.

If Northern Iowa is still in the poll at 1-4, then that poll is complete garbage :twocents:
Totally agree. That's why I dumped them. Yes, all their losses were to tough teams (FBS or high-ranked FCS) and they played them close, but ... C'mon! :(

Without a D-II win (at least, I think "Central State" may be D-II), they'd be 0-fer and we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Well, I can't truly say I "nailed it," but I did pretty damn good. Hit 11 on the nose, 12 within ±1 or 2 (we'll call it 23 of 25 as "right on" or close enough). I also nailed the fact that Citadel and Northern Iowa got dropped from the rankings. The pollsters were more generous with Cal Poly, and not quite as much for NAU than I guessed. Delaware got hammered just about as much as I expected (and deservedly so).
Rather surprises me that Tennessee State jumped all the way to #18 from not being ranked the week before. You don't see that too often. Big deal that Samford sneaked in at #25 .. . it was a kind of toss-up between them and Albany anyway.
