Projected Roster: 2025

At DT, we are 1 injury away from a catastrophic situation. This group as a whole completely lacks the bulk needed to hold up against prime (run first) competition. How many dudes do we need to add? Depends on what the team’s goals are. If we add 1-2, we’ll have a similar team as last year. 4-5 we got a chance to be stout. 0….there’s a chance we miss the playoffs this year.
Maybe the offense will be all world and we will just out score people :) but yes, really hoping Griz add some DLine help that brings excitement!

Based on what? He was a good DL in HS.
Yea, that is why I'm worried they will pull him off of the offensive line and put him at DT.

Edit -- I am realizing we were just talking past each other on this. My worry isn't that he would suck as a DT, my concern is that I think our offensive line is going to take a big step next year, and he is a part of why I think that. While I like beefing up our d-line, I don't love the idea of robbing the offensive line to do it, and I don't love that that may be the way forward.

Maybe he’d be good 🤷‍♂️
I edited it too late. I am realizing we were just talking past each other on this.

He might be very good, I just don't want to make one side better by hurting the other.

We do have more OL depth at guard with Brown and Johnson. Grimsrud is our most decorated returning OL so agree it’d be a shame to see him switch.

I hope grimsrud sticks with it for his senior season. My concern is what we do at center. Having panfilof (our production fell off noticably when he was injured for several games, and not 100% when he did come back) and brown to anchor the left side, assuming grimsrud doesn't retire, we need to replace center and right tackle. Freitas will fill one hole, johnson maybe, and we had at least 2 if not 3 red shirts that the coaches are extremely high on. The juco kid from Kansas we bought in has huge size and originally went to his Jacob as a TE, and his tape showed he has great feat and moves well, so he may fit into the mix as well.

I'm ready for a dominant o line, I hope we have it within the program currently, and / or we get a big splash from the portal!

Regarding Wilson V, does anybody know what really happened last season? I heard 2 stories 1) injured in fall camp and lost for season 2) got in coaches dog house. If story 2 is true, you have to wonder if the guy will ever see the field.

Can’t speak to the doghouse portion but he did get hurt in fall camp. Unsure how bad but he didn’t practice at all the last few weeks

I'm curious on deitrick as well... was he hurt in 2024? Did he redshirt / grayshirt? I didn't see him in game action at all that I can recall... he was a formidable rotation guy in 2023.
Im assuming he was hurt since he’s still on the roster and some folks that entered the portal have already been removed.

What will be the reasons for the big step forward on the OL?

Strength and conditioning? Personnel? Coaching?

Coaching, and the new coach's influence on the strength and conditioning and the personnel. I'm high on Pawlak. I like that it seems like we are bringing in some bigger personnel. I think that having been here for a year, his influence will be felt even more strongly on that unit in this upcoming offseason and season.

Removed from the roster. Fife and Wilson are both no longer on the roster. I’d think if Dietrich was no longer on the team at all during the season, he’d have been removed also.
I always think it's very strange that they do this. I would understand if it were a case like Jeremy Calhoun, who quit on the team before the season was over, but they left after fulfilling their obligation. Seems petty to completely erase them from gogriz like that.

I’ve always agreed with this thought.
