Problem With Delaney

He's not used to winning as a Head Coach:

UM Weatern Head Coach 1991-1992: 5-11-1

With the exception of being an Asst Coach on the 76 Bobcats that won a National Title, he's gotten used to being part of so-so teams.

MSU Assistant 1976-80: 36-17
Colorado State as an Assistant 1993-2007: 108-74

I thought he was at Western in 81-82 not 91-92?

Just wanted to add some insight on coach Delaney. After reading multiple posts about his game management
skills consider this from a former player (at GFH in the 70's). I believe Mick to be a pretty fair X's and O's guy. This is how he has made his living, really. Being a positions coach is much more game preparation than it is game adjustments and motivation. The Griz powers that be,clearly made a panic hire seeking stability and accountability. He won't take the Griz to the next step needed to keep pace in the increasingly competitive Big Sky and the FCS. I am a cat fan,but unlike a lot of fans on both sides of the bumps, I truly relish both teams being relevant come Big Sky Championships and FCS playoffs. Hope that he relents after 1 year and steps down.

Good post catdaddy7. And I agree. I respect him immensly but not everyone that coaches young men is cut out to be the head guy. That takes a whole bunch of different skills especially at this level. I would hope that he would follow his heart and do what is best for the team. If he truly believes that all the wrongs can be made right and that it has just been an anomoly then he should come back. But if he does so I really hope that he is successful. :thumb:

We need a head coach, not a Walmart greeter.
