I'm waiting on word from someone else but if I find the paper did not reach out to him either I'm going to go ape on them. Our petition speaks for itself but when/if a lie like that is printed... look out.

The petition is presented for political supporters of Williams. The issue and concern in not political. Stupidity, ignorance and arrogance are apolitical.

Geez, I'm sure over half of those folks don't even know what Pat said, they were just good little leftists lemmings fighting the oppression of College athletics. If we really want to make an impact, we need to hold a rally outside the legislature or BOR office, maybe even two, one on a random weekday when the Senate is in session so we can request a meeting with Senate leaders, and one on the day of his confirmation hearing. If we think we can get 75-150 people to show up, it will be impactful, and blow up more in the media, which it hasn't yet because the media tends to be soft on democrats who stick their foot in their mouth.

I'm willing to help organize if some folks want to get on board. We won't make it about politics, it's about standing up for all the UM athletes and coaches who can't or won't speak out in this situation because of the politics, and because their time is better spent focused on their goals, and proving Pat Williams wrong.

Geez, can a Dem attend your rally? :roll: How is political affiliation even an issue here? How about opening yourself up to the idea that PW's comments are out of bounds for a lot of people regardless of their politics?

The big difference between the two (outside of the message of course) is that the petition I support is not politically motivated by one party, but it's a blended group of people that are upset by his comments. The petition in support of him is significantly better organized to get signatures because it's flying through the state Democrat ranks and using their database and supporters to drum up attention.

Some ask, why not send "our" side to the Republican Party then? Well the reason why not is that this was never intended to be an anti-Democrat message. It's supporters agree with it's stance regardless of party affiliation.

Their petition is now linking to #JohnsonTrial to get further support and now making it a full-on political press.

I like the fact that "our" side (for those who have signed it) is genuinely upset over the tone of what he said and we want action on principle. We're not in this for political gamesmanship. I believe it makes our petition much more genuine

I remember a time not so long ago when the only bigot affiliated with the University of Montana was a fictional TV character made famous by UM alum Carroll O'Connor.
