Pro Day 2016

Who has a shot at playing at the next level from this year's class?

I think Holmes is obviously a late draft pick or at least free agent, just like Wags was last year. I was kinda surprised to see Kose got invited to an all-star game, but I'm no NFL scout. I guess he is a free agent type just by virtue of getting invited to the NFLPA game. Jamaal Jones would seem likely to get a chance as well. Is there anybody else?

Possibly Jamaal Wilson as a fullback...

I still can't believe J. Jones and K. Van Ackeren didn't get invited to the Shrine game, NFLPA or Senior Bowl games. Crazy... GO GRIZ!!!!

Could Van Ackeran or Kose be NFL safeties? I am not sure of their stature at LB in the NFL?

Kose has a better shot at LB than VA. Unless VA puts on about 25-30 lbs.

I think Holmes will be drafted sometime in the last two rounds. I think any team in need of an outside pass rusher would see him as a low-risk option at the back end of the draft.

I think Jamaal Jones will get a free agent deal. From my armchair perspective it appears that he runs routes well, has good hands, and blocks well. I could see him eventually making a roster after logging a little bit of practice squad time.

Wondering if Van Ackeran might get a look as a safety? He is a good tackler, but he seems too light to play LB in the NFL. Wasn't he moved to LB from safety early on in his Griz career?

I believe KVA was a safety at Hawaii before transferring and Gamboa was a safety his first couple years on campus. Gamboa has serious speed for sure. I always wondered what it would have been like if he were a running back.

Holmes has the best shot. I think he gets drafted...
Jones has a chance at a FA deal but it's certainly no lock.
The others mentioned? I just don't see it...

Henderson is working out at one of those Combine/Pro Day preparations places. Same place that a lot of Seahawks including Coyle train at in the offseason. I suspect that he'll put up very nice numbers at Pro Day.

I assume that because KVA and Gamboa ended up being moved from safety while at UM, in part because they were more suited for LB, they wouldn't be able to play NFL/professional safety. Gamboa would be a good special teams guy, but my scout friend (see I have a scout friend like Growler too) said he'd have to have a position too.

Holmes looks like he can probably make it in the NFL. Jones is a very talented all-around receiver, and could do most of what receivers should do. Apparently is more complete than Henderson. The only thing I didn't like were too many missed catches. He improved this year, but still wasn't perfect.

In order of likelihood of getting on a roster; Holmes (think he will do it), Jones (50/50 chance in my opinion), all the following guys are long shots, Roberts (if he was black he'd have a decent chance, racist society), Henderson (alot of talent, alot of baggage), Kose (doubt it, but he's in the conversation), same with KVA

:?
He would be a small outside linebacker at best. He would better in a 3-4 defense, playing the edge; as he has a nose for the ball. Gamboa and KVA have the better coverage skills at LB. Do you think he could cover an NFL tight end?

Too bad he isn't a half foot shorter also, he'd be a shoe-in as the next Welker or Edelman.

A bit dated, but these were the top 5 fantasy producing LB's in the 2014 season:

Von Miller - 6'3', 237 LB's
Luke Kuechly - 6'3", 243 LB's
Lavonte David - 6'1", 233 lbs
Paul Posluszny - 6'1", 242 LB's
CJ Moseley - 6'2", 234 lbs

I'm gonna guess Kose could put on 10 lbs of muscle....I'm in no way comparing him to these 5 (or any other NFL LB for that matter), but SIZE ain't his issue (if he has an issue).
