The comments re Hill sound great but you guys are forgetting the most important attribute for a QB--accuracy. He can have all the leadership skills and competitiveness in the world but without accuracy, he's basically a glorified RB. I'm not convinced he has the accuracy we want, although he could be the best we have. From my limited views, his accuracy seemed average, his windup seemed huge, and his release slow. Usually accuracy is something you're born with, but it goes hand-in-hand with nerves of steel, which he may have.
Hill was accurate in the spring game. He looked very good. He was playing mostly against the 2d and 3d defenses, but obviously he didn't have the 1st offense either. I don't agree with you on the windup and release comments either, but didn't really pay attention and would be happy to hear what others say in that regard. I think he narrowed the distance with his spring game, but I also believe Phillips will be the starter.
Lefties have a different look throwing the ball period. They throw more 3/4 slot than over the top like righties. He's definitely a QB though and not glorified RB (that was said earlier, not you). His accuracy was not a problem IMO, by the fact he is still learning the offense. Some throws were not an accuracy problem, but timing. He had several great throws that were flat out dropped too. I do feel he was the only QB that improved with each scrimmage and had his best one in more of a game setting.
I know it may not be popular to say, but I'd rather have an incompletion than an INT and he only had one all spring. I believe Phillips will start the season, but Hill will finish it.
