I think one of the big factors in a huge halftime comeback like we witnessed is the big pressure differential between the halves. In the first half the Griz were under huge pressure to play their best game of the season. The second half is the start of a completely different game. NO ONE expects them to come back and win. Even if they come back and make it competitive, that's probably considered a victory. No pressure. They are playing with house money, so to speak. They threw caution to the wind and just went for it.

I wonder about two things happening next. A, now that AJ and the Griz got a taste of national media coverage, they will feel more pressure for an encore performance and fold under the pressure of their own efforts. Or B, being a low seeded underdog, they're basically playing with house money from the beginning tipoff and their performance thrives.

On another note, I don't know if it will affect seeding or not, but I think it's in the best interest of college basketball that the Griz win a first round game. They are begging for a good storyline besides who's the current flavor of the month one-and-done player. A story like Johnson's could be just what the doctor ordered in terms of college basketball PR, considering many people's opinions with one-and-dones and sports betting.
 
You make very good points. I was thinking the same things. Maybe we get a 12 seed, and we can show America that we not only have AJ, but a very good team!!

no chance on the 12 seed, I would be ecstatic with a 13, but most likely a 14.

I think you covered all the scenarios, so you may be right on one of them. :thumb: No chance in hell they get better than a 14 seed. Feel good stories do not affect the selection committee, only playwrights. :thumb:

Grizbacker is right. Montana should not expect any better than a #14 seed. Teams like San Diego State, Illinois, Mississippi State and Minnesota may have played their way into the tournament today, so I expect the 12 and 13 seeds to be gobbled up by those teams.

The only way Montana would receive a #13 seed is if the NCAA Committee does it for regional purposes to keep Montana out west versus a #4 seeded BYU or New Mexico State. However, that's a stretch at best.
