Preseason Workout Schedule

I would like to go up to the U to watch the preseason ratball. If anyone knows when the guys or gals will be working out, please post a note.

I happened to see Derik Selvig headed to campus early this morning, so the guys may have a morning schedule.

Thanks

Most years you can find the team playing pickup games in aux gyms, sometimes the arena, anytime between 6 and 8 pm on most weeknights.

The floor in the arena is being redone so they won't be in there. I've seen the ladies working out in the concourse around Dalhberg in the afternoon so I wouldn't be surprised if they are playing pickup too.

OK, I stopped by the campus yesterday. On the doors to the Auxilliary Gyms (south side of the fieldhouse), each of the two small gyms has a sheet of paper hanging from the door stating when the teams practice.

The times vary a bit during this week, but for this week the schedule is:

men's hoops roughly 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. (give or take half an hour); and

women's hoops 12:30 -3 (give or take half an hour); and

volleyball 3:30 -5 (pardon me, by why is it that I like watching the volleyball team do anything in those uniforms???).

It appears that the schedule for this week (Sept 21-25) is the same - guys early 7-9, and women 12:30 to 2:30 or 3, at least MWF for the women. T-Th seems to be just shoot-around time for the women.

Does anyone know when official practices begin? Also would it be possible for some locals check out some practices and give us updates, like we get in football? Thanks in advance.

I saw Raason Young (SP?) and he seems like a nice guy and hard worker. Work ethic is his claim to fame. He seems to lack the bulk to do much damage inside, but might be able to slash and burn.

On the women's side, I was surprised by how well-built the Idaho gal and the two new players from Washington are. They look like seniors instead of freshmen in terms of solid build. I don't think Robin will need to send them to the weight room for a year.

I haven't yet seen the other new guys.

I went and watch the Lady Griz about a week ago and the new freshman looked very good especially De Boer and Baker. I will not be surprised if one (both?) starts. On the odd side, Hurley did not play, she was just shooting a little, and not moving very well. She also looked more like a power forward than many of the Griz power forwards do.
