The test of all this will be in the second week when UM squares off against App. State, a team I think is over rated. Could be the game of the FCS year? Hopefully, by the first game with S. Dak. we will know who the QB is....hopefully.

We will know who is our starter at QB before the end of the month. JJ or McKinney.

From what I heard (from a lawyer, not egriz) last Friday don't expect JJ to be around.....

He said it's 100% horseshit but it's what he thinks. And he know's peeps in Missoula who are in the know.....
I heard that a while back too but I don't think it's true anymore. If he was going to be criminally charged they would have done it by now. Since he is most likely not going to be criminally charged he will not be thrown out of school due to the shit storm it will create. JJ will be our QB this year and we should win at least nine games, it's gonna happen.

Both ASU and UM are kind of "rebuilding" or reloading....it'll be an epic game, but I don't think this year its teh game of the year....NEXT year now, THAT'S a different story.... :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

So team X played into the semifinals last year, but has since lost both coordinators and seen its head coach abruptly fired, its athletic director fired. The president of the university has concluded the team's starting QB raped a co-ed, for which the QB has been expelled. The expulsion is under appeal, but the outcome won't be known until about two weeks before fall practice.
Oh yeah the team has made national news for alleged gang rape. Eight of its best players are in the pros.

The NCAA, Department of Justice and Department of Education are all investigating.
Despite all that team X is ranked 17th? How is that underrated?
I was told there would be no math involved. Does x=Northern Arizona?

Not unless you've heard something I haven't. The last I've heard is that NAU extended the contract of Jerome Souers through and including the 2013 season < http://phxfan.com/2010/12/nau-sets-the-right-example-re-signs-its-football-coach/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Personsally, I'd have EWU as fourth in the pre-season poll instead of MSU; and MSU 12th, but not ahead of the Griz. It doesn't matter who the boobscats have got; they don't win their games, it's the other teams they play that loses by mucking things up. NDSU as 1st. They're still the FCS Champion until furthur notice, regardless of Sam Houston State.

Mark my words McKinney will NOT be the starter. He may be utilized in some sort of way but will not be the starter. GK throws a better ball and is a better athlete than TM. He is not ready plain and simple.

If Kemp starts at QB, we will not win 6 games

With the new OC's desire to pass more, that could very well be true.

I like Kemp, but I'm still not sold on his throwing. We were told how much he improved before last season, and it never materialized on the field.

I can see G Kemp as a tremendous asset this year. Regardless of where he plays GK will be a factor. I am glad to see the fuel being stacked up for the cold winter that lays ahead. This years team will use all the negative external stuff as motivation. So, bring it on Grizz haters. Its going to be a minute...so y'all get comfortable! See you in late December 8-)

I believe his mechanics improved, but that doesn't automatically make you a better QB if you have difficulty recognizing and reading defenses....I was one of GK's biggest supporters last off-season, but saw enough during the year to realize that he was struggling with certain aspects of playing QB. I'd much rather see him in the slot, or out of the backfield...he can be a punishing runner and is great in space.

Opponents better get used to "S Bar H" branded on their asses... McKinney and Kemp are situational QB's at best. But I'll keep beating this dead horse til the end - The Griz will go as far as our young, but talented, offensive line takes us. Keeping the QB upright, no matter who it is, will be priority number one. :dead:
A lot is also going to hinge on some better game planning and play calling in the first 20 minutes of each game, where we continually got our asses handed to us last season... I got tired of us having to "adjust" to other team... WTF can't they adjust to us stuffing the pumpkin down their throats??
I'm actually pretty stoked about the defense and our linebacking corps... SHSU beat us with their quickness vs. our slower LB's. That definitely won't be a problem this season.

I was kidding about the NAU, my man. ;)
Regarding the Cats, I'm excited for the season, but your obvious bias makes it hard to argue any points.

Lucky to be 17...new coach ...tons graduated ...and really have no clue who the QB will be

The Griz have also had a 'tradition' of being a slow starter, and not getting it together until mid-October. Ursus1 is right, too many variables. If the new staff and team don't produce right off the bat, #17 will be a distant memory. No learning curve this year, its start good and get better. WGS is a nice edge, but App State and EWU are road games. This could look like the 2010 season.

:? :? :?

Thats called peaking :D :D But whoever suggested we won't have the luxury any more of taking half the first quarter or more to "adjust" was dead on.....

We may have slow started certain GAMES under Pflu, but rarely did we ever slow start a SEASON under Hauck or Pflu (with '10 being the obvious exception).

Let's all quit sugar-coating about Kemp as a QB. Many high school QBs can throw the ball better than Kemp. So, how can he compete at the FCS level as a QB? If he were smart, he would request a move to safety or CB, where his great athletic ability may give him a chance at the next level.

You sucked at T ball and you want respect here, LMAO, I'm guessing you couldn't beat Mr. Ed at horse. Some tools are useful, you ain't on the list, skippy.

There's only one poll that counts and that is the one at the end of the season. If memory serves me correctly the cats were ranked number one going into their last regular season game last year and looked how that turned out.

I agree. It is going to be weird not playing every team this year and 'knowing' where you stand in the standings half way through. Cal Poly plays a pretty easy schedule so they could be right up there as well while not having to play MSU or UM.

You may exhale now. Did I say the posts touting Kemp as a QB who could lead the Griz to the promised land appeared in THIS THREAD? Uh, I don't think so, but there are plenty of them in past threads. 8-)
