First off, I absolutely can’t wait to get back in the stadium. Couldn’t be more excited for this team to hit the field.
But if I have to listen to the same old, tired, Monte pregame intro with him rodeoing to kid rock, I may riot. The crowd was half asleep for it last year, would love to see them get the crowd back into the pregame. I really hope this isn’t the best we can get out of a performing arts school.

Pregame desperately needs to be revamped. T.I.’s “Bring ‘Em Out” came out in 2004 and we’ve pretty much used it since. It’s impossible to make everyone happy, but I feel it’s time for some kind of change here.

Huge liability I'm assuming after the accident they had. I can count on one hand how many times they've dove in since that happened. I just hope they ditched the house music Dj idea. You want to kill momentum keep doing that crap. Whoever came up with that idea clearly can't read a room

Opening game, start with "Sirius" by Alan Parsons Project. Bring out Monte and Benny the Bull. Talk about bringing down the house. Go with a little Talking Heads and "Burning Down the House.!" Rob Quist and the quartet sing the National Anthem with their incredible harmonies. Mark Mariani raises the 37 flag. Perfect start to the season.

Totally agree, but I remember people hating that they played “Bring ‘Em Out” when it started. I think we’ve been stuck in a transitional period for the last 8-10 years during which the songs are too old to be current but not old enough to be “classics”, so it just seems stale. For example, everyone loves VaTech’s entrance, right? “Enter Sandman” came out in 1991.

All that said, I’m doubtful our song selections will become classics.

I think if you listen carefully, you can hear songs from all the way back to 1986 in WA-Griz and I catch an earful of it every time I take my wife to a game. Ozzy died this year, so can we bury the intro to Crazy Train with him at last.
I know a couple of years ago the question was posed to Coach Hauck for some reason, as if he was going to say anything about the music that was playing. Then they came back and asked some of the players, as if they are going to do anything but repeat what the coach said, they aren't there to listen to the play list. Then it was just concluded that if they aren't listening to it, why change it.
The other thing they can do away with, first off, would require some imagination to get the crowd fired up. Every football stadium in America does that gd bs 'it's thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrd down,' which has become a contest of stadium announcers to see who can hold the note the longest. Can't we come up with some things that are more unique than the old standards?
Getting a new list of music is high on that list though because it is about the crowd and getting them involved in the game. Quiet and reserved as the offense steps up to the line but loud and threatening when the defense is on the field and the old Cotton Eye Joe just ain't gettin' it no more.

I’m fine with classics or new popular songs, but what we have now is neither of those. And sorry, but kid rock will never be a classic.
Have Monte come out through the student section and jump off the railing for the cheer squad to catch him. Have him zip line in (somehow). Just change something so people aren’t asleep or MIA when the team is coming out. Give the crowd something worth seeing so they’ll get in the stadium.

I actually liked the DJ. Lots of pro teams and major colleges are doing that. Plus it was nice to hear some different music for a change.

My only concern is that they overcorrect and we end up with GenZ Monte doing a TikTok dance while prompting each end of the stadium to yell "SKIBIDI!" "RIZZ!", then launching Labubus out of a cannon into the crowd while an incomprehensible sigilkore song blares from the speakers.

If you didn't understand a lot of those words, consider yourself blessed. In some ways I do kinda appreciate how the game day experience is a time capsule of the 00s.

I loved the DJ in the 4th quarter of Cat Griz game two years ago when Griz were up big and he played "Mony Mony." His finest moment.
