Well, it's looking like the overwhelming majority think/hope the Griz will not only BE in the playoffs, but will go very far, 6 thinking a NC is possible. In some ways I'm intrigued by the race between those who don't think the Griz will be in the playoffs vs. those who think they will be only in the first round. That is a very close race. It indicates IMO the measure of doubt re: the coming season, between those who don't think the Griz will BE in the playoffs vs. those who think the Griz will AT LEAST be in the first round.

It's great to see how many feel/think the Griz will not only be in the playoffs, but will advance.

Actually the way I read it currently is the majority (35 of 67 currently = 52.24%) either see this team not making the playoffs or losing in the 1st round. A measure of failure in years past for a large portion of Griz Nation.

So you're way off, a majority does think/hope they'll be in, but a narrow majority believes they won't win a single playoff game.

In terms of go "very far" what do you mean? Winning 2+ playoff games? Only 31.34%, less than 1 in 3 think that...

Personally, I think the Griz have scheduled themselves out of the playoffs....the very thing I've criticized EWU and WSU for doing over the past several years. You can NOT have an unwinnable FBS game and a D-II game in the same year. That means you must go 7-2 or 8-1 in your other 9 games and I just don't think the Griz are going to be that consistent yet this year. And even if they DO manage to go 7-2 in their other 9, that 8-3 record may not be enough to get in with a D-II win.

I voted for miss the playoffs strictly because of the schedule, but I have a feeling that if things go good it might be like last year where we needed to beat the cats to get in the playoffs and I would love to beat them in Bozeman again.

Well, ok. Considering that the Griz weren't even IN the playoffs last season, I would look at just being in the first round is an improvement, not a failure. I could live with a loss in the first round, because that's happened before. I would just like the Griz record of being in the playoffs reestablished.

You're establishing some standards, here, that I wasn't aware of & perhaps most eGrizzers haven't been aware of. By "go very far," I mean what I said, and it looks like now no less that 10% think the Griz can take the NC next season. That is a BIG surprise to me. (I hope the voting is in good faith.)

I would feel a lot better if we could replace the DII game.

However, you've got to like our chances against EWU and Cal Poly at home. However, it'll be a tough go if we start 0-3.

You guys are forgetting that the playoffs are expanded, so a 7-4 season with a good performance against UT could get us in. The schedule will be considered better this year, thanks to the UT game, and EWU winning it all which gives the Big Sky some leverage perception-wise. Plus we were one of the first few out last year at 7-4 with a pretty weak schedule

7-4 with a good performance against UT might get them in but they'd be dinged b/c of another D-II game and have only 6 D-I wins though...

I thought you had to absolutely have to have 7 d-1 wins to get in...

The won-lost record of a team will be scrutinized to determine a team’s strength of schedule; however, less than seven Division I wins may place a team in jeopardy of not being selected

Right, it will depend on the field. Last year at least there were not 12 teams (or whatever the number of at-larges is) with wonderful records

There should be a poll that asks if we will beat Cal Ply and EWU at home to begin the season-if we do that we are in-if not we have to beat the Cats on the road IMO. If we don't turn the ball over like last season we should be alright in those first big games. We can't cough it up 10 times in two games and expect to win.

so....just so i'm clear as i get confused easily, :msugrad: ....

it is STUPID for a poster to predict that this years griz team may have many future pro players because the season is still so far away.....

http://www.egriz.com/grizboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=49820&start=25" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

....but it is completely rational to start a post speculating how far the griz team will go in the playoffs, even though opening kickoff isn't for over 5 months and you don't even know who your starting qb will be?

seems to me that this "poll" is every bit as "problematic" as BWahls about who has a shot at playing after college. :?

but what do i know? afterall..... :msugrad:

8-)

(Brackets by me) Almost 100 people voted in this poll. Yes, they may be irrational, but isn't that part of being a Grizz fan? Isn't that what being a fan in any sport means? The only rational people on this board are BW, Paytonlives, & a few others. You're not included, btw. :geek:

I'm rational enuf to see that 28 voters say the Griz won't make the playoffs (who knows how many of them are scat fanz?) and 73 voters say the Griz WILL be in the playoffs.

That's not what ilovethecats was complaining about. Yes, Cat fans (& who knows how many others) troll this board. This poll is not perfect. In some ways a Cat fan could vote for UM winning the NC as a big joke. One can only wish voters do so in good faith. I hope you voted & did so in good faith.

Care to say why you voted as you did? :geek:

just to clear things up....

first, i consider myself very rational. my guess, is cat fan and all, if i were to create a poll and ask who people thought were more rational.....myself or you....i like my chances. 8-)

second, i didn't complain about anything. i asked a question. i recall you telling bwahl last week his post about griz was stupid because the season was so far away and we didn't know WHAT was in store. so you can imagine my amusement when you did the same thing with yet anothr poll. guess this is just another example of how you can do something and it's fine....but if anyone else dares to do something similar you can bet you'll let them hear about it. i guess some people just think that is their right....

and finally....i don't "troll" this board. as a fan of msu and really all of the big sky, i enjoy reading these boards for entertainment and information. i stay away from trash talking, and respect the rivalry for what it is. hell, i have even donated some of my money to griz releated causes over the years. however you taught me last week that that is in fact stupid, and i should have put food on the table or clothes om my kids back....

which by the way might be a good idea, because i'll want to protect them from the sun when i foolishly bring them to the cats home opener. remember how you scolded me and other horrible parents like myself for torturing the kids with a football game in the hot sun?

and ths is gonna just get you fuming.....but i take them to an outdoor pool all summer too....

carry on. :coffee:

This is not about whether you or I are the more rational. Why don't you start a poll like this one on YOUR board?

You are completely off base. IMO, it's different speculating on how the Griz will do next season vs. the chances of individual players making it to the pros. We are talking about a team vs. individuals. There, we differ, but don't put this poll down because of that. Post your own poll on your Cat board, instead of hounding me, here. :geek:

Didn't accuse you of that. The rest of your post is pure nonsense.

Most eGrizzers are giving the Griz a huge vote of confidence for not only being in the playoffs, but many thinking they will win the NC. Yet, I'm surprised at the number of naysayers, fully one third of eGrizzers. Anyway, it's a good poll & I enjoy watching it, as I'm sure many other eGrizzers do.

When did you become master of the board? You've really brought it upon yourself to keep everyone in line and to make sure they know that you are the overall authority on all things.
Hey, I understand that this is egriz, but this is still America, and I, and anyone that wants to, can be a member on here, and post on here whether we are griz fans or not. Do I enjoy jabbing people and trolling sometimes, you bet, but to a point. I'll be honest, this board is WAY more fun than BN and I have spent more of my time on here, then there. This isn't a country club, it's a public board, and if you don't like cat fans on here, make it private or quit your whining. There are plenty of griz posters on BN, EverettGriz (GinW) has over 4000 posts and no one says a thing, mostly ;) .
He was right, you told BW that he was stupid for speculating on draft predictions, then make a poll about where you think the griz will end up in at the end of the season. Seems ironic to me.
