I'm really curious to see how they fit in McDowell but he and Vidlak are two totally different styles of QBs - which leads me to think that they see what Sac had been doing and MSU... kind of... was doing with a 2 QB system and rocking it like that.
I don't know what the hell happened with Brown last year, if it was him or if it was the coaching staff wrongly didn't trust him, or a mix of both. If he can show he's a capable backup then I'm good with him backing up. The other guys behind him simply aren't ready, I don't think.

This. POTY.

Hardly a POTY. In fact, it's wrong on 2021. Why can't some of you stick with the facts, instead of just your narrative?

Brown was pretty good in 2021. Backup qb was not an Achilles heel in 2021, in my view. Yes, Brown didn't shine when he had to come in against JMU, but that was just one game.
Brown completed 64.7% of passes that year. By comparison, Humphrey was 60.9%. Humphrey's 7 picks were a higher percentage of passes than Brown's 4 picks. 3-1 as starter.
From roster:
"2020-21 (R-Fr.):
• Academic All-Big Sky
Performed admirably in 12 appearances, going 3-1 as a starter in a backup role under center for the Grizzlies, finishing the year with 1029 yards and three touchdowns on the season… Showed big play ability on the ground, rushing for five touchdowns in a three-game stretch… Threw for a career-high 256 yards in Montana’s win over Idaho… Completed a 70-yard pass in Montana's win at Idaho, the longest of his career."

mthoopsfan said:I think we will see somewhat of a 2 qb system, with Vidlak and McDowell. While I don't know how good McDowell is, I suspect he will be good, he's duel threat like UM has had a liked in recent years, and it would be a waste to have him sitting on the bench. McDowell seems like he is fired up to contribute and get on the field, and win a national championship. I like that. I looked closely at what the Griz players said about both of them in the article from a week or so ago. I'm not worried about getting stuck without a good enough backup this year. I'm more interested in seeing how good Vidlak is, or the combination of Vidlak and McDowell are. And it would be nice if Brown could get back on track to where he should have been in 2022 (after what he showed in 2021).

I can already hear PR's delicious excuses now. "With a healthy Vidlak, we could have been somebody."

And, yet...with a healthy V - the cats lose by 20...and you lose your seed.
Ugh..yet another season of cats not fulfilling the aura of pre-season natty champs.

Do you keep a straight face typing that, thinking back to last year and 2019 when it literally looked like you didn't belong on the same field? Cat's are better than the griz in every way imaginable. Mainly the quality depth that has been established. It's pretty amazing. Choate got the program just about there, and Vigen is taking it over the top. He understands the blue print to get there coaching all those years at NDSU. Now he puts his own spin on it and knows what it takes. Are you guys double repping yet? That's just one example of how far behind Bobbee is. I see you might be copying the plus 1 and\or perhaps 2QB system that has been so successful for the Cats. Good for Bobbee, maybe he can adjust.
I think that depends on how they feel McDowell can run Vidlak’s part of the offense. If he can do it really well, then he’s probably QB1. If not, then it would make sense to keep the offense as similar as possible, which means he still gets his same stuff (maybe at a higher rate now), but they might spell him with Brown.AZGrizFan said:uofmman1122 said:If the 2 QB system is true, then we likely will see Brown as the #2 behind Vidlak. So if we DO have a 2 QB system and QB1 goes down, you think BROWN becomes the new QB1 and McDowell remains as QB2 in the 2QB system, with specific sets/plays for him?
Hoops. If we are going to use stats, in all fairness; out of the rounded 65% completion, what was the completion under 10 yards and the completion/attempted for over 10 yards.mthoopsfan said:AZGrizFan said:And I’ll just say it here once and get it out of the way: If we go into the first game with Brown as #2 QB, I will officially have lost all confidence in BH.
