Prater/Lucas

The Stitt quote in the paper was "Tyler's a guy we gave reps all week and he played quarterback for three years. We thought if a helmet comes off and somebody's got to go in, Tyler Lucas is a guy who can do it".

Not sure there is much there except, as was the case with Simis and Chalich, Stitt puts a high value on game experience.

This says it all.
Making mountains out of mole hills. Stitt explained his rationale. If Prater has a problem with it, he should talk with Stitt. Not like he'd be doing any real QBing, just running out the clock.

It could be possible that Stitt threw Lucas in there for mop-up duty because he didn't want to risk an injury on Prater should he need to be called upon if Simis goes down.

THIS RIGHT HERE!!! When you only have two (2) QBs left out of the FIVE we started fall camp with it is a well thought plan. Prepare Lucas as the emergency QB plus find a way to get one of your more athletic transfers the ball who has significant collegiate playing time.

Realize that if we lose Prater then we have to rip another redshirt from a kid (i.e. Willy Pflug) in order to replace that position & roster spot. Stitt shows a lot of rational thought & wisdom in my opinion by preparing & using Lucas. Hope to see more of him in his last season of collegiate play!

Lucas was practicing QB last week. My spy mentioned that to me. He continues to be in the QB position this week and no word of a "new" offense for us as of yet. My spy will not give me any details but this is as great a thing to ponder about since we saw Stitt's first game. I can only wonder as must the PSU coaches concerning what might jump up and bite them. I can't wait to see this next game. Stitt is smart and those that don't beleive that will be talking about him for time to come.

To shed some more light on this...Stitt just said the QB depth chart for PSU is Simis, Lucas, Gus....

So Prater's off to Rocky? This is confusing.

I doubt Prater leaves and he is a RS Freshman or Sophomore. He could still have his opportunity. Also keep in mind, he is not a scholarship player. He is going to school on his military benefits. He and his wife came here being she is from the area. I honestly don't see him leaving. Then again, if someone offers him a full ride scholarship, that could change things.

As for Lucas, I hope we see more of him on the field. Got to love his athleticism and attitude of being a team guy.

It is a tough call. The GRIZ also have the Jensen kid already committed as well. I would certainly understand if Prater were open to transferring with a full ride. Then again, he is not taking up a scholarship here. How many QB's does a team need though? The GRIZ surely have a more than enough QB's and WR's.
