I just have not seen an explanation as to what the permit problems were. The U could have posted it on GoGriz with the who, what, when, Where, and why specifically laid out. Short of that, it's speculation and suspicion that someone is hiding something. What ever the problems were, it delayed construction, and what should be up and running, isn't. There needs to be accountability, on the parts of the U and the City.

It is all public record, it is city and state business. You just have to go to meetings or go through the minutes.

Honestly, it feels like people are looking to be mad at the university or something there.

Some of the people slowing down the process were under the assumption that taxpayer money was being used to construct the facility. They were misinformed and caused unnecessary delays.

Who were these misinformed people that caused unnecessary delays. Names don't help, as I've been gone from Missoula for three decades. University people? City bureaucrats? Missoula Rising activists? Who? Credit where credit is due.

I hope the Griz are practicing hard and getting ready for the playoffs. Even though they don't know who they are playing, I can't believe the players were given 3 days off, Thursday Friday and Saturday and practice on Sunday. This is crazy. I sure hope there's not a ton of rust coming off a emotional amazing victory and a bye

Not crazy at all.

You’re kidding, right? The Griz haven’t had Thanksgiving week off in a decade of playoff appearances…what a bonus for kicking ‘Scat ass. Take some time, heal up, and come back refreshed and ready to kick some east coast ass…

Thank you markson. Simple question, simple answer.

UM people, City people, or State people? 'Assumptions and misinformed' = incompetence. Heads should roll.

We also got a seed and Thanksgiving off in 2021 after beating MSU soundly, so it hasn’t been anywhere near a decade. However, we looked pretty good against the iggles in the second round after Limu ran his mouth. It was a good revenge game after the ending in Cheney earlier in the season.

Knock on wood this year has set up well with the schedule and the bye, and this team is pretty healthy for this point in the season. Glad they get some time with family as well as to rest and recover.

Well, there may be soooome crazy here....

I vaguely remember Haslam back in May or June commenting on the delay getting started as the city permitting department had questions and concerns about the construction drawings. Some miscommunication between UM staff and city that required explanation and I believe some changes. That being said he said project should be done by end of November. I am assuming materials and labor have been slow in getting to job site during the construction.

Concise, and specific as need be. :thumb:
I see you are a twenty year man as of next Saturday. Happy eGriz anniversary, bobaloo. And thanks for your response.

Not sure what is true, funding information should be readily available and should have had absolutely no bearing on the situation regardless.

Haslam made it pretty clear that the university had held up its end of the bargain and the difficulties were originating elsewhere. Sad that his kind of bullshit is allowed to happen.

In a letter to contributors, Haslem states that delays in securing permits, and those permits required design alterations, coupled with a wet fall are the reasons the project has not been completed. There are concerns about laying the surface without proper drying and compaction of the base. Field Turf will return June 1, 2024 to finish the project.

So that puts it what, a year and a half behind schedule?! Good grief

My understanding from the letter was that June 1 was when Field Turf was coming back, but AFTER that they still had to install and inflate the bubble? Not sure how long that takes…

What about the Lady Griz and volleyball locker rooms? I thought the funding on those were close/wrapping up for at least the last few years, so any update?

Permits, probably. Gotta have those goddamned permits. Something for those petty piss ant bureaucrats at City Hall to meddle with.

Good lord, can you imagine cost of 6,700 square yards of concrete? That would be deal breaker.

If like everything else...a 1/3 higher than before this regime in D.C. was installed.

It's attributable to housing starts over the past two years being at their highest levels since immediately before the mortgage driven recession of 2007.

Fund raising still ongoing. The big donors have recently been contacted to help out. The equipment room needs to be moved and completed first, as the locker rooms are moving into the old equipment room space. When completed in their new space, the players will have a direct stairwell from the locker room to the arena floor. (This is not a new stairwell, it is an existing one, not used as it is in the current equipment room).
