Posting to thank Mick and JJ!!

Last year after Griz-Cat, hoping for more of those smiles this Saturday. Realizing both will be gone from the Griz after the season, I just wanted to post the picture as a thank you to both of them for getting us through on of the lowest times in Griz football.

Two classy gentlemen. It won't be the same without them. Although I do find it fitting that both JJ and Mick hang up their Headsets and pads together. Thank you JJ for reminding us what tough really is, and thank you Mick for keeping Griz nation whole. We owe both of you!

Classy and MANY thanks MD & JJ for ALL both of you have done for Griz football, the University of Montana, the community of Missoula, and all associated with Montana. :thumb: :D

eGriz is hilarious. Three solid years of absolulely filleting Mick by about 98% of this board and now we just "ooze" class now that he's announced his retirement.

This place rocks.

We complain about every coach we have at some point, but when all is said and done we do appreciate the job that they have done, being a college football coach is not easy, and Mick did come in and straightened out the mess and that is to be commended. So rather than attacking other people why don't you show a little class AZ and say thanks to JJ and Mick? Unless you have no class.....

Yes I am going to be at the game! First one of the year, we will be stopping by your tailgate for sure!

Be glad to see you again! Will be several Cat fans as well, so don't get confused. As you know, I welcome all visiting fans as well as Griz fans.
We will be toasting Micks career and his retirement. Seems like the proper thing to do!
Griz fans, come on by and shoot the breeze...

JJ you faced a lot of adversity during your career at Montana. You did so with courage, dignity and class.

I watched you win a state championship your sophomore year at Sheldon. Your team was runner up as a Junior and won it all again as a Senior. There are not many Oregon high school quarterbacks who can say they won it all at the 6A level when they were a sophomore.

It was a lot of fun watching you compete as a Griz. You never, ever gave up. Your leadership was on display every time you touched the ball. You not only are Montana tough, but you are North Bend strong. I know you have made your grandfather and parents very proud of you. Your strong character will serve you well in the years ahead. Thanks for memories!

Mick, it has been a long journey. You can walk away knowing that you did it the right way. When you look back you won't be measured by you won-loss record. No, you will be remembered by the relationships you developed over the past 50 years, the strong citizens you sent off to build families and careers. The ability and values you develop in those who came under your direction. The hopes dreams and ambitions you helped to nurture, the challenges you embraced and your willingness to strive to get the utmost out of others and yourself.

You were my high school position coach my junior and senior years in high school. You never lost your passion for teaching. You never swayed from your core values. Back them, as now, you strived to improve individual and collective performance. You did it will dignity, class and respect for all.

My best to you and Cherie as you open the next chapter. Tap 'er lightly my friend.
