Post Spring Camp: Players on the rise

really excited about what we have in Sean Haynes getting paired with Mitch Saylor at WR. and the way the OLine seems to be coming along with a ton of young talent to add depth.

On the other side of the ball I'm ready to hit the panic button due to how thin we are at CB. I have a ton of faith in Nate Harris and feel like he will be our #1 CB for 4 years. Dennard will develop, is a great overall football player but seriously lacks reps at CB. Sean Murray looks like a All-Big Sky player for a couple plays, then will disapear. Not sure if he will ever be a consitent lock down CB (hope he proves me wrong)

Yeah on defense my biggest concern is CB, Dennard is rough but improving, Harris I think will become great but needs to improve his consistency overall. Murray as well needs to continually work on tackling, although he's got a real good nose for getting to the pass and making picks. Nguyen and Miles.... I really need to see more from overall...

Just got off the phone with Ty Timmer... bummer news but he's decided to call it a career as a Griz. His knees just aren't responding like he wants. Looking at the long-term outlook for the rest of his life the decision makes sense.

What a bummer for Ty and for us. It is sad that Griz fans did not get to see this kid play. He was an extremely intelligent player and has a great motor.

If his knees aren't responding he made the right decision. Good luck Ty and thanks for being a Griz.

That is unfortunate for him. I was looking forward to seeing him clog up the middle, but he is obviously a bright kid and did not come to the decision lightly. I have come to admire him and his family. He has shown his work ethic on the field and in the classroom. I admire his parents for letting him make his own decisions and going to the school he felt was right for him. I have a feeling we are going to be calling him Dr. Timmer in the future. Good luck Ty.

...an what waz iz a great griz story...
...say thankz again and good luck kid...

... 8-) ...

Sad news for Griz fans, but probably a very intelligent move on Ty's part. He's got his whole life ahead of him, and I'm pretty sure it's going to be a highly productive one. This kid has a great head on his shoulders.

Thanks BW.... Great report...way to early to declare winners in spot battles though. It's a long summer and fall camp.

Very glad to hear and see that they are playing with such intensity. Coach D knows what he is doing

Good to see your back Chris.....new name.....remember spies always know!

I see that indepth knowledge is everywhere about the GRIZZ football team, which is really nice to see. Very good wide open opnions. I would like to respond to the CB position. This is strictly my own opinion, and I have no other basis to say anything. I really beleive that you will be pleasantly surprised at the CB coming in June. Athletic, good tackler, and plays WR's hands and eyes well. I know now, he is working very hard to improve himself to better help that position in any way he can, but I also beleive that his play will get him a starting position. Yes he is a JC transfer, and if you look at Mt San Antonio's (MT. SAC) The Mounties defensive stats, he barley gave up any down field plays. You can't measure the heart by the numbers, and the numbers may not be all that great, however a lot of teams didn't throw his way and he was on that "island" with the other team's number 1. Average height of the opposing WR was 6'3, and he held his own. Yes I am bias, but he is coming to be a GRIZZ, I just hope the fans welcome him and show him the love that I see all over this site. A new fan of the GRIZZ, and I hope to meet you all some day! Height 6' weight 190. He is working landscaping now, laying sod, and wheel barrels of mulch, trying to get that "man strength".

GP Tackles Pass Def
13 Solo =26 Ast=14 BrUp = 13 Int-Yds= 2-47 1 Rt for TD
