Post Game: We have a Wortham

Cannot understate what a game Michael Wortham had for Montana yesterday, giving him his flowers and the rest of the team a lot of love in my post game write up:

Post Game: We have a Wortham link here

Michael Wortham saved one of his very best for his last home game as a Griz, leading Montana in receiving and rushing with 3 total TDs scored. His fit into Brent Pease’s offense has worked wonderfully and it showed up wonderfully yesterday in Washington Grizzly. His efforts surged him beyond Marc Mariani for the single season APY record - and he still has games to play! USD could not account for him at all, he beat them as a route runner and a ball carrier. And of course a play that won’t be forgotten in a while, on a 3rd and 20 Brent Pease calls out a lateral play that Wortham and Gillman pulled off to perfection to move the sticks.

The Griz team played outstanding football on the offense, defense and Special Team this game. They are peaking at the best time of the year - late in the playoffs.

No, the Griz don't just have Wortham. The Griz have a united/total team effort that made the success happen yesterday. Each game it will be another Griz player who stands out. Yesterday, it was Wortham.
Next week - ?.

Another great recap of the game Brent. I think the Cat loss was of more benefit to this team than a Cat win would have been, especially with the actions by the Cat players after the game. Being with the program when we played Georgia Southern in '95 after they had done some shitty stuff to us in '89, I can tell you this team will be prepared to play the Cats on Saturday. FWIW, in the '95 playoff game, the Griz rolled Georgia Southern 45-0. I don't expect the same outcome in Bozoland but the Griz will be fired up to play the game.

Excellent write up. Love it. The salonen / Shafer comparison is awesome, I'll have to run it by Brian Monday. Based on impact to the overall game I love it. Quite different athletes and players for the position, but Shafer has such an impact on the offense its a worthy comparison.

"I opened with talking about what a great player Michael Wortham has been for the Griz, and I’m going to close with talking about him as well. In that brawl he had probably his worst game as a Griz. After the game I took a photo of him watching cat players stomp and spit on the endzone turf and flip off and taunt Griz fans. I have no idea what he was thinking, but I’d assume he was steeling his heart in hopes for a rematch. Well, for Mike and his whole team - the rematch they wanted is the one they get. This team can make history on Saturday, and I believe they will."

I sat there too, watching him watch it all go down... I was thinking, if the Griz get one more chance to play these guys... how silly the amount of energy the cat players exerting at the time as the season is far from over... be careful what you wish for cats... You now get what you didn't want... the potential for the most epic upset in your home stadium ever. All the pressure is on the cats and their best team in school history with a shot at a National Title pending... in your own stadium of cowbells, can you imagine if the cats blow this opportunity like they blew their wad celebrating in Missoula?!

Yes, the Griz have a Wortham… I’d also like to have a “Donk!” Actually, Id like about 8 to 10 Donks if I’m being honest.

IYKYK 😏

I'm hoping it's Gillman this weekend

The Griz have played amazing these past two games. But I’m not sure how well they’ll play against the bobcats in Bozeman because man it’s gonna be loud. The Griz offense hasn’t had to play in a loud environment all season
The griz are already conditioned for noise as they play in WA/Griz stadium. They are totally prepared.

Which just about guarantees double coverage on him with the bubs. Which leaves 3 with single man coverage, I like our chances. Schaffer, Bohannon, Davis and Deck and others for them to contend with.
