Great conference win.

I am not a Debbie Downer, sky is falling poster. Certainly not much to complain about in the last couple of weeks.

But, should we have any reason to worry about our secondary - particularly our corners? On at least 2 plays yesterday, I saw receivers get behind them. We've seen it happen in our earlier games as well. Last season the Griz were susceptible to giving up big plays - they have avoided them for the most part this season.

Far better offenses forthcoming...reason to worry? Or, should I stop wringing my hands?

Ask again in two weeks after our secondary faces off against the best WRs in the conference (Butler at NAU and Bourne/Kupp at EWU).

However as of right now I see it like this, no corner or defender is perfect, and for the most part save a few plays they've prevented a lot of long gains and catches. Additionally our corners have mostly been on an island playing 1 on 1. Add in the JR Nelson returns now, adding to the skill of this group. Sanders and McKinley have been very good this season and Reynard in the slot has done well too.

But again... after NAU/EWU then we'll have a full picture, IMO.

I think our D needs to put even more pressure on these QBs with the receivers we will be facing. Those QB's need knocked around hard and often so they fear the next one coming! That will keep the NAU and EWU recievers catches low! Make em fear the next snap boys!!

Question is, have other QB been inaccurate an missed open guys due to the constant pressure and hits they are taking? As you stated it will be interesting to see what pressure the D can get to determine in we stay in man or go zone.

Surprised more hasn't been said about Chalich. He looked like a very good backup out there and could probably be good as a change of pace guy even in closer games where he could do a little more running.

IF MT can dismantle NAU then we know we got something cooking. SUU was a pretty good team and MT basically tore them apart. Two cupcakes later I think the extra practice might have this offense and defense clicking on all cylinders. A big win over NAU will surely get EWU's attention. I am hoping that this train keeps rolling right on through NAU and EWU. Then a ntoher great cupcake at home take it on the road and maul NO CO then of course the yearly kitty slaughter "my prediction is 63 to 17". Do that and the Griz are a seeded team. Maybe a top four. Lose one game more though and they will still make the playoffs but probably not a seed. Nice to have this "problem" after all the hand wringing the last few years. Seems like this program is only headed up.

I feel strongly the GRIZ will be a seed with a 9-2 record. There will be plenty of top 10 losses the next five weeks.

I was feeling sorry for Sac mid second quarter. They were just way overmatched.

Replayed the game yesterday (NFL football can be very boring). In the MVSU game, I felt the opponent was over-matched physically as well as in talent. I did not get that feeling with Sac State -- they have some players, they're in good shape, and so. Yet the final result was pretty much the same. Very strange -- seems the Griz really are getting better at Stitt's system and gaining confidence with it.

Playing CB is not easy and I thought both McKinley and Sanders have done a good job. Yes there were a couple of times where the receiver got a step but that is when you hope you have bought your line enough time to get pressure. Even on some of the completions they were right there to make the tackle with minimal YAC. A truly mobile QB makes me nervous as this D is pin your ears back every play and sometimes not disciplined - like you saw at Poly. Keeping pressure on yet not letting them run from the pocket is not easy. Will be a fun 2 weeks
