Post Game: Too many errors cost us this win

Naccarato never even saw the defender coming. The fumble didn't surprise me at all. The fact that the kid was able to get up and walk away from the hit did!

Don't be a hero and take the damn ball at the 25 if your 5 yards deep. Period!

Oh, THAT. Well, at least he learned and didn't run one out again...

Comparing Nacarrato's fumble to those by PN is comical. PN fumbles without being TOUCHED. Nacarrato got absolutely decleated. 99% of returners in football would have fumbled that ball there.

Uhhhh. I didn't see PN have fumble nor a near fumble. You guys who can't move past a bad season are comical. Just get over it and support a pretty good football player who does the right things on and off the field.

I'm not talking about in THIS game. I'm talking about comparing his fumble to just about ANY of PN's.

Why even compare the two players. Fumbles happen. I despise what Alpo fu@#in d@ckhead did to PN this week. Everyone feeds into it.

If TM leads his receivers Griz have 14 more points. Losing at App by 8 with 4 turnovers with a young team making a lot of mistakes is really not a bad game. I would be more worried if I were App. Home game, long travel for opponent, going against a young secondary and a RS Freshman QB - getting all the calls (5 official penalty I believe) Montana declined the other one and Montana still had a chance to tie at the end...looks better for Montana as this team will only gel and shore up these mistakes over the course of the year.

Mick had to know, when he named a young kid at his starting QB, that there would be growing pains. Tonight was a growing pain - but it was a great game that TM will learn from and get better. You don't find a bigger stage to play on in this division and to do it in your 2nd start was impressive. Better things to come from this bunch.

Yes indeed!

If someone makes one more block on the kickoff that resulted in a fumble, App St has 7 less points.

If someone makes a play on any one of several important 3rd down conversions of App St, the game might have been different.

If the App St linebacker (or whoever it was) doesn't make a nice play on a later run to the left by Nguyen (when the announcers said Nguyen was probably otherwise in the clear), the game might have been different.

This is football. One or two plays can always get singled out for being critical and game-changing, but usually there were many plays that were criticial and game-changing. It often comes down to which team has the most of them that went in their favor.

Great game. Two well matched teams and of course in games like that, turnover are normally the difference and they were last night. I like the way both these teams played, well coached, well disciplined, looking forward to future match-ups w App State down the road as these look to be two programs on the verge of huge things given all the contributing freshmen talent.

Negative 4 in turnovers will never get it done in games at this level. Its "official" Moore IS a beast! JP Kanongata is too and I think the so called late hit was border line...play to the whistle men. Henderson open deep on several plays and just needs to get involved in the offense more. I could see the coaches using him in the return game more to get him touches. We had plenty of opportunities to take control of that game but young talent cant substitute for experience.

Oline protected well and got into a nice groove blocking in the first half, pass protection continued in the 2nd but the run blocking faded out. Dline was solid rock stars Bienemann, Takai, Ginn, and Rehm were huge on the inside, great to see Takai return. How about Tyrone "Freakin" Holmes?

McKinney WILL be fine and is a legit starter. We are leaning on alot of kids FR/RS Frosh to get up to speed quick. I see serious potential but patience while they develop more weapons offensively is going to be a requirement. I want to see these kids on the offense come week 7, 8 & 9. The veterans like Moore, Ngyuen and our defense will be the glue in 2012.

I also am NOT discouraged by this loss. Young team will learn & grow from this. I am encouraged by what i saw once our young QBs, young WRs & coaches continue to get better. We have weapons we havent cut loose yet!

Get home, get healthy, get to class & get back on the winning track vs Liberty. Let's start a streak...
Go Griz

Was watching the game at Dukes in AZ with another member of this board and he got a text from a buddy at the game who said the Montana section was noisier than the rest of the stadium.

With exception of the moments that followed big plays for Montana, not even close to accurate. Still, you guys brought a great crowd that did make noise throughout the game. I was on the other side and could not make them out, but definitely heard some chants coming from that section after a couple of the big runs by Moore.

#5 Naccarato should have never run the ball out and likewise not have seen the field after his fumble. That was a HUGE mistake!

Stupid comment. When you get hit like that, it's not a "mistake" when you fumble. There wasn't a harder hit the entire game.

Sure there was..... that Dan Moore stiff arm..... OUCH! :thumb:

Anyone know if josh harris is ok. He tweaked his knee and I don't think he came back

They talked about this in another thread. He was in on the final defensive series. So it appears Harris is OK.

You are right on the money with that statement. I counted FOUR ASU defenders had a clear path to Naccarato. It was a horrible (pathetic actually) blocking job by return team. ASU wanted it more on that critical special teams turnover.

Although I am not impressed with having a high schooler, that is the smallest/lightest kid on the team, return kicks. Kick returns often provide the highest speed/violent collisions. Secial Teams coaches often like to have runnungbacks return kicks because of their ability to take these big hits and hold onto the ball. That ASU player wouldn't have seperated the ball from Moore or Kemp for example in my opinion.

If McKinney could throw a football accurately they wouldnt have had 21 points.............but he cant we lost and you guys need to quit making excuses. The team with the better "starting" QB won.

There were 2 guys right on the returner. There may have been a couple missed blocks. I suppose it's possible that the returner ran a bit too much to the left too. I didn't notice a hole to the right, but we had more blockers to the right.

+1 No way is he better than JJ at this time or any time last season. You all know that I wasn't the biggest JJ fan cuz of his weak-assed arm... but at least he was accurate in his short-to-mid range game and didn't look like a lost puppy in the 2-minute offense. Opponents will never have to cover mid-to-deep centerfield or sideline routes over 25 yards. Definitely something that'll bite us in the ass this season and evidently years to come.

You might be able to convince me that McKinney made a few bad throws. And you might convince me that Jamal Jackson is a better quarterback. But you'd have a hell of a time convincing me that McKinney isn't the best quarterback on our roster. But go ahead and try. Who's better?
