Post Game: Too many errors cost us this win

Would like to see us utilize our TEs more. Our offense is still pretty one dimentional. We can't expect DM to carry our offense like that every game and expect him to remain healthy. If we can improve our passing O just even a little bit, it will make a world of difference.

The offense isn't one-dimensional. UM runs, uses screens and bubbles, throws short passes, and throws long passes. The running is done by the running backs and the qb. The qb can scramble.

Plus you can see Rosie likes to go long several times a game i like that it was missing from Smiths offense at times.

The last two Griz losses, Sammy last December and tonight, I have never felt better about. It's so weird to say that as I have punched a few holes in my walls over Griz road games over the years, but to see a team rally, like the Griz did back in December when SHSU was just throttling people, and tonight at the Rock, where many GOOD teams have been throttled over the years, just makes me pretty damn proud to be a GRiZ fan, and the last two losses have stung a lot less than the others over the years.

I was one of the ones who feared a double-digit loss tonight even way back when JJ was still the QB. I just felt ASU owed the Griz one and tonight was the night. And ASU did get them, But damn, the Griz really surprised me and I am not at all worried about them hanging their heads. The Griz have too many leaders, too good of a coaching staff to do that and they are finding out, as are the rest of us, they are too good to do that. This season has a CHANCE (cause you never really know) to be just as special as many others.

Griz played well...better than I expected on the road and there were very impressive after getting down early.

Couple things...

TM has to throw the deep ball better. Other than that, he played well. He is very good at making the correct read in this offense.

Why do we run Dan Moore outside and Peter inside? I can't figure that out.

Looks like we're back to a Paulson defense...wish Ty would've followed Breske's lead, but doesnt' look like it.

Dan Moore should also kick PAT's....he does everything else well, why not?

I am assuming the turnovers were Mick's fault...just like they were Pflu's? He needs to run the M until he cleans that up.

This year is going to be better than I originally thought. TM cleans it up a bit and the defense gets a little more aggressive. Griz have a very high ceiling this year.

One thing I noticed on TM's deep throws is he tends to throw to the WR at that moment vs. the spot (lead them) where the WR will be. Not sure if this is an arm strength or learning issue. Stayed fairly composed cause they could of tanked it down 21-7. I was at the game and it seemed to me that they applied a lot of pressure in passing situations. I did like some of the nice bullets he threw over the middle. Very impressed with this effort and hopefully they continue to improve.

Scheid how was the crowd - how would you compare it to Wa Griz?

Was watching the game at Dukes in AZ with another member of this board and he got a text from a buddy at the game who said the Montana section was noisier than the rest of the stadium.

I heard the noise doesn't compare to Wa Griz, but the overall atmosphere is just as good.

I thought it was really good. Crowd was engaged entire game...obviously cause of match-up. Student section runs from 20 yd to 20 yd line and looked like first 15 rows or so. However, they are behind the Appy bench. Stadium is beautiful and built against a small mountain. It is open and I believe Wa Griz is definitely louder. It is a fun place to catch a game and both teams are blessed with such a great fan base and atmosphere.

Preface: I respect a lot of what you write on egriz, and appreciate your efforts. I read a few of your first lines on this thread, and instantly got pissed. I disagree with your sideline Moore comments. He is right. He busted his fricking nuts all game, only to have someone not do their job. Yes-He is a freshman, and freshman and all people make mistakes. However, I don't think Dan's reactions were necessarily "detrimental" to the teams momentum. Bottom Line: He was hooking all night long, and they got progressively worse. He should have been able to make the PAT, or the coaches should have tried someone else. Maybe not the best reaction, but not out of line IMO.

I will take Dan Moore throwing his helmet at this point. Two games into the season he has got to be the MVP
of this team. That screen pass run was huge! It could have been the play of the game if the PAT
was made.

BTW - I'd rather lose to App on the road to see what this team is made out of than eek out a win vs a mid-major team at Drake.
But your Cats "friends" on FB seem to think otherwise, and that we lost to a lesser team.

- Negative 4 in turnovers tonight and the one that probably hurt the most was Naccarato's turnover. I know the coaches don't want Nguyen on kickoffs so he can stay more healthy but maybe they should look to have Henderson or another guy back there. Griz I think are now -5 on the season... this trend needs to get corrected and fast.

As far as I'm concerned, with the advent of the "lets pussify football by minimizing player contact on returns" rule, there isn't a player on the team who should try to return a kick from 5 yards deep in the endzone. You'd have to average greater than 30 yards a return to have better field position than having the ball spotted on the 25. If I remember correctly, Naccarato was hit around the 15 yard line....not a good decision on his part.

On the bright side:
Holmes is an animal and I find it fitting that he is sporting the Tim Buch #91 jersey :thumb: If he continues to develop, the sack record may be in serious jeopardy.
Dan M. is a monster......bowling over, hurdling, and stiff arming players like they were rag dolls. I kept hearing Chris Berman in my head on the screen pass for TD....rumblin', bumblin', stumblin.....he could go all the way....Touchdown!!!

Canada will get it together and be back on kick returns. #5 Naccarato should have never run the ball out and likewise not have seen the field after his fumble. That was a HUGE mistake!

Should have done this, Should have done that, but weren't the Griz projected to lose big at App. St. :? Don't care what mistakes caused the game, The Griz Played Awesome and "We Are MT."! First loss I am ok with. :D Go Griz, you looked and played excellent. :thumb:

s?

Comparing Nacarrato's fumble to those by PN is comical. PN fumbles without being TOUCHED. Nacarrato got absolutely decleated. 99% of returners in football would have fumbled that ball there.

Uhhhh. I didn't see PN have fumble nor a near fumble. You guys who can't move past a bad season are comical. Just get over it and support a pretty good football player who does the right things on and off the field.

I'm not talking about in THIS game. I'm talking about comparing his fumble to just about ANY of PN's.

Stupid comment. When you get hit like that, it's not a "mistake" when you fumble. There wasn't a harder hit the entire game.
