Look, I know the cliche, "players play and coaches coach," however, as high as I was on Ty Gregorak at the start of the season, I'm officially off the bandwagon. Same for Delaney. I thought very highly of them at the start of the season, and now have no faith whatsoever. Same for Shalon Baker, who really should be fired, because it is his unit that is really the culprit right now. Delaney, however, is the coach who lost this game in the end, because he is a terrible coach when it comes to clutch situations, which rely upon intelligent game management. His team had the ball with 2 minutes to go in the game with a tie score. His defense had been unable to stop UND's offense for the entire game. Logically, he should be shooting for a game winning field goal, or, at the very least, running out the clock and going into overtime. He had the opportunity for overtime, and passed it up. Once we ran on 3rd down and didn't get the first, there was less than 1 minute in the game. He should run on the next play, and hope his team gets the first down, in which case he has a timeout to take. If we didn't get the first down, then he should have let the play-clock run down to nothing on 4th down, take the 5 yd penalty, THEN PUNT which would have left UND with around 20 seconds. Instea
d, Delaney chose to pass the ball, stopping the clock, and leaving UND 49 seconds, which proved to be plenty to scorch our helpless secondary.

The offense needed to just line up and run between the tackles all game long and we would have won this one easy. That would have kept the ball away from them and we would have demoralized them by the second half. I think this loss is all on Rosy.

They gave up 700+ yards of offense, 40 points, 660 yards passing. One receiver had 300+ yards by himself. How is that good enough to beat anyone?
I can't help but think the secondary would be a lot better if Jacob Coogan was not out....krammer said:we had better get on the phones to the junior college connections for some defensive backs, and safties,,,we do not have the talent to play at those positions i.e. 660 yards passing bsc records...so our talent pool is not very deep in the secondary,,,,plus coaching , why give up with 29 seconds to go with the kick return team using poehls (i think) to field the kick off...sure i would kick the ball to him too, if i were north dakota....this was just bad special team coaching, period........terrrible game for the defense, i can hardly wait to see what the coach says..........

- I liked the passing dimension Shay brought to the team today. Over 300 yards and 3 TDs with no picks. He missed quite a few open targets too or he could've probably been close to 400 yards and 4 TDs. If they're going to keep at it with Shay then this offense needs to be tweaked as the zone-read isn't really fooling anyone with Shay. He gives more dimension to our attack, and the last 3 teams the Griz face this year all have just as bad defenses.
- Jordan Canada ran really well today, assuming he finishes the season out strong he could enter into next year as one of the better backs in the Big Sky. He'll be looking at a lot more touches next year and could turn into our main feature back.
- Zach Wagenmann leads the Big Sky in sacks, correct? Another one today. I kind of thought he was going to really step up seeing him last year but he needed to prove it once the pads came on, he's done that I'd say.
- Run defense was good, although not tested much.
- Shaw is a monster punter. If he keeps improving his strength and accuracy he'll go pro. I'm continually impressed with how far he mashes that ball. Improve the coffin corner over the years and just keep tearing the seams off that ball.
- Fieldgoal/kick blocking looked really cleaned up, nice and smooth with good kicks from Lider.
- Ellis Henderson will torment this league for years if he can get on-page with his QBs. Having a QB deliver the ball faster to him will only help. I'm expecting big things in the years to come.
- All of the DBs had issues but Chief Goodwin showed some good stuff, a nice pick and a few other good coverage plays. Also how about Murray's interception? Wow, one of the better ones I'd ever seen.

He is an old positions coach that had it in his mind to retire. Delaney is not the answer for this team. But no one at UM will make a change. In this case the head coach needs the boot. As well as the defensive coordinator. I love my Griz but realize this season is in the books. That being said let Delaney go and put in ? Someone as interim head coach. At this point if these kids see or think Delaney is back next year and they do not mesh with or are benched by Delaney why stay? Really? This is shaping up to be the worst season in modern Griz history or at least since the late 80's. for Pete sake our D have up 600 yards plus on passing! 350 yards to ONE WR.!!! Am I pissed he'll yes.

I love to watch John Paul but even he seems less than encouraged. Hard to say but the spark hasn't been there and the killer instinct seems to have been sucked out of this team. The reality Might be the kids have lost confidence in delaney. He has made a lot of blunders that cost us.
OrgonGriz said:There is no rally around the coaches after big plays. The team does not seem to feed off coaches emotions. Delaney looks distant from team. I have seen players walk off field and go past there coaches. That's just things I have seen watching on TV. If u have been at games in person and noticed different great. For me it seems the players have no bond to coaches or at least Delaney. Not like i am used to seeing anyway.

The one who just about walked out on his team right before the season started b/c he didn't have the passion to keep coaching? No thanks.

HATED that call.
