This nail biter crap is going to give me an ulcer!! If you like close, exciting football games, like my wife does, you love the 2013 Griz season. If you want a good game, but want the Griz to consistently win by 7-14 points (like I do) you are probably shopping for beta blockers right now.

If you are looking for stellar analysis and expert opinion, wait for Wahlberg. Here's what I saw...

'Yotes and Coach Glenn had a great game. Honestly, I thought they had it and earned it. I thought their QB was going to fold after Coyle crushed him in the 1st Q, but nope. Bouma and Starr are both top notch. I was really glad to see Bouma with a huge turnover, because up to that point, he was eating our lunch.

The game was almost the opposite of what many expected. They pretty consistently moved the ball on offense, we did not. They (with one very notable exception) didn't turn the ball over, we did. They did not surge in the 4th quarter (fortunately).

In some ways you could say JJ is a gunslinger. Obviously not a super-strong arm, but that aggressive style of play and, man, I love seeing that kid throw on the run. Gunslingers throw interceptions; and today that almost cost us the game.

What can I say except Ellis Henderson is a jewel!!! When the guy catches the ball, he just looks like he's expecting it to happen. Love that.

Our offense is unproductive because our running game is unproductive. A couple moments of brilliance today, but otherwise, meh!

The TV announcers described our defense as "suspect." That might be a compliment. I would describe our defense as "unpredictable" (though obviously, we were screwed without a handful of big D plays today).

Rag on Hermy and Tully all you want, but where would we have been without them today? I almost crapped when I thought Hermy had a broken collarbone.

I am really looking forward to watching John Nguyen in his career at Montana.

Way to go Griz! (can you please try to beat Weber with a little less drama?)

Ironic, the forum mainly are about Ellis Henderson, Defense, and OL. Those were also the main discussions at the game live. Rather than comment on each on in separate threads, I figured it would make sense to post them all here.

Last week I posted I felt Henderson has a chance at the NFL. I was wrong. He does not have a chance. If he stays healthy, he IS an NFL WR!!! He has it all for a WR/playmaker. GRIZ fans that see him live all the time, enjoy it. He is a rarity. I knew he was good from watching online, but watching him live is simply amazing. Myself and another GRIZ fan seen the ball being kicked to him on the his return, we could not believe it. We said "That is a mistake." Sure enough, it was a huge mistake by USD. JJ to EH is one amazing combo. As for JJ's play, he actually tried forcing a few passes, and forced them badly. He is trying to do too much. Chances are, that will be his worse game of the season as for turnovers. I am not one bit worried about JJ.

I am worried to no end about our OL though. I did not realize how bad the OL play was until seeing it live. Our RB's have guys on them before the line of the scrimmage way too often. One play a DE beats us, the next a DT, the next a stunting LB. They are solid at pass blocking though, but also inconsistent. A lot of the heat JJ takes is from our reliance on longer passing plays. OL can only keep defenders at bay for so long. This unit does not work together as a unit. I wish I could post it is not as bad as it looks. This offense can carry the GRIZ far into the playoffs on skill players. The OL though needs to step up their performance by a lot.

I also feel much more comfortable with the future of our safety play for the remainder of this season, and next season. A healthy Hermanson is an all conference level safety next season. He got off to slow of a start this season to earn that, in my opinion. I actually love how he plays. His play has been impressive since the Poly game. Tully, not sure what to think of his play from today. For the most part, he is solid, but somehow has a few plays that go bad for him. Finally, TY for the life of your defense, get Gamboa more time in passing situations. He impresses me every game on special teams. Today he impressed me in the reps he got on defense. Use him Ty, the kid is going to be a stud!

LB play, Tripp causes himself a few tackles a game by trying to strip the ball every damn time, when he does not have help defense near him. Physically, he is impressive though, and will get drafted. Brock Coyle though is our most complete LB, from what I seen today. I also love his passion. That guy gets the crowd going and feeds off them. Both these guys could be playing on Sundays. Coyle will be a damn steal, in my opinion. Speaking of LB's, we struggled defending the pass when we used our base defense. The improvement in the 2nd half was due to Gamboa being utilized on defense.

Finally, I wish Alpha and his crew a safe trip back to Butte. I really enjoyed watching the game with that group. They were knowledgeable, fun, and respectful. He does play way too many people on this board. Take that for what it is worth. It was great to see them at the game.

I hope I can watch the game replay online. I feel I did miss a lot at the Dakota Dome. I had difficulty seeing well there. Maybe it was the lighting or the dome, I don't know. Speaking of USD, their tailgating sucks.

Glad I got to see the GRIZ play. Take what I posted how you want. Man, do I miss GRIZ fans in person.

Both good posts. :thumb:

Alpha never worries about lodging on his road trips because he is living rent free in our heads.

Good post. Did Bouma remind anybody else of Trevyn Smith from Weber St a few yrs ago?

Yes, good comparison.

After watching the game/season, two things are for certain... Ellis Henderson is a beast and the Griz Defense can not tackle consistently.

Welcome to eGriz. And I agree on both points.

I am amazed no one has commented on Henderson's come back block for Jamaal when he took out two of SD's guys. What an awesome block. That is a real asset for our receivers when all of them can catch and can block.

Someone did, don't remember which thread or poster it was though. But you are right that was big too, guess his yards, KR, and TDs are sort of overshadowing his blocking tonight.

Was this game really a non-conference game? I read that on the Big Sky Conference site.
http://www.bigskyconf.com/news/2013/11/9/FB_1109133901.aspx

Well yes, considering South Dakota is not in our conference...

No wonder I couldn't see them in the Big Sky standings. LOL
WOW, I had it in my head they came over with North Dakota.
Well thanks for setting me straight.

Actually, that was the original plan...they were supposed to be UND's traveling partner, but behind the scenes they leveraged their Big Sky invite into an invitation to go with NDSU and SDSU...

Just finished watching the game online. I missed the awesome block by Henderson at the game. Also the block by Dellasara on the TD KR return was damn good.
